Now, I have seen the O2 sensor take out the K4 sensor ground. Install a new computer, turn on the key and instantly take out the K4 sensor ground in the new PCM.
What can occasionally happen in a coil is that it fails and shorts back to itself. So when it's supposed to be a 150 Ohm coil it becomes say a 50 Ohm one... this might leave it just capable of pulling the contacts shut still. But, instead of pulling 80mA it pulls 250mA, which could be enough to overload the driver... which probably isn't as beefy as an injector driver, maybe just a small 2N2222 type, and is 100% duty cycle.

We're in a similar situation this year. I never did better than a 14 lol. I hope you sort this out and get back at it SLOWLY in the spring. Very impressive getting 19psi at the line.

probably a 2n4401.... similar specs to the 2n2222 though. ive seen them in other chrysler ecu's of that era.

the solenoids are 30ohm. dunno what the asd relay is.

Heh, Haynes manual was in grab range... typically full of useful info "If a faulty relay is suspected, it can be removed and tested by a dealer service department"

Re: The Van is finally getting its engine thread!!!

What a day, forgot I had a TII computer in my 89 parts car, durr, so I ran over town and got Jason aka Whorse to socket it for me, got home at 5 pm, put the whole TII computer in, runs, forgot the ASD relay but oh well, load her up, 5 gallons C16 on a 1/4 tank-had betted on going to work and back and emptying it.
Got to the track, hadn't missed my rotation, got ready.

20 psi, burnout, staged, cut out open, kinda leary about it-sound wise but the track crew don't even flinch, lol, make boost, go, dies, catch's off I go, cuts out around 6K, WTF, run a 2.4 60 ft, 14.7@91,

Swap to another chip just in case that one got damaged from the issues, 25 psi, burnout, stage, build boost, launch, dies, same thing but run a 14.1@97, so she's doing pretty good from basically a standing start.

Some ahole blows his motor, 1 hour downtime and we are fighting the dew point, its coming in fast. Found out the guy is my friends friend and he knew the motor was iffy?

Finally clean up, get rolling, its slow going, few more cars break? after like 2 hours, line up against an modded STi, I get the hole shot but dies and catch's, I catch him and go flying by, then cut out city, so he barely gets me, another 2.4 60 ft and another 14.1 to his 13.7.

Now I am pissed, running out of time, so I check my RPM limiter and WTF, its at 6K, so max it out, which I always do, 30 mins go by and they call it.

If I can't get this thing to run right, I will go Microtech next year, getting really fed up with these little issues.

Even though it didn't go fast, still had a crowd and a bunch of, I love your van, lol.

So this is it for the year, once again, year #2 without hitting the 12's, frustrating to say the least,

I recently popped a piston with a TUNE that supposedly should have worked with the timing table that everyone said would work. I ran 18psi through a lw rodded 2.2 with a glhs stage 2 tune and a 5th injector. No problems. Ran awesome. 14.3@102 with a little spark blow out (bad plugs) and spinning and a stock Garrett with a 2 1/4 sv. I ran a 14.0@104 with a tune, 2.5, 50 trim turbo with stage 2 wheel, 2 1/2 sv and +40 injectors. I gain 2mph woth better setup? Lol. So I'm back to square 1 actually thinking about going back to the caveman way of tuning. Because NOTHING I did was out of the ordinary. Go look at my tune that I posted. Tell me what is wrong with it. Everyone said I wasn't running enough timing and then I turn the timing up to where they say it should be at and I break shyt.

Sorry to rant in your thread Simon.
have you checked the plug wires? Look at simple shyt.

Not really as it has nothing to do with boost. No way I could run this combo with a stock computer and diode,

    Rant away.

Over the years, all I can say is shitt happens and sometimes you just can't explain it. Some of the motors I popped shouldn't have, yours technically should be ok too but for some reason, it happens. I know a local that just melted his brand new motor, forged ven's, custom tune, EGT's were 1300, 15 psi, 11:1 af and he took out a forged piston? He looked lean to do what he did so we have to dig in but you get my drift.

I'm with roachjuice, I had some pretty significant damage from a recognized and respected chip burner, swapped back to the old zener and cold starts, watched my wideband and knock sensor output and ran better and safer.

one thing i am gonna try is a stock scaled cal.

like no extra stuff. just stock scaled for injectors and map. just to see how it runs compared to custom stuff.
