    Installing front wheel bearings

Hubs off of car. Removed old bearings with a BFH. Sand blasted and painted hubs. Now, to install the new bearings. FSM has a part number for a Mopar tool. Can't get ahold of anyone with a bearing press.

What other options? Thinking about a big bolt/washer/plate to pull it together.

take it to a decent machine shop. They should be able to press them in for you.

i used a press for mine, but grab a bottle jack, your truck and some flat ground. then set the bearing on the ground under the axle, and then set the bottle jack on top and pump away,... yeah it will work

Was hoping to get it done over the weekend. Since my machinist wasn't at work this weekend, I was looking for an alternative method. Well, I got busy with the kids and didn't get it done anyway, so maybe I'll head up to my machinst's shop today.

Hmm.... gee... so simple. I may try that some day.

    Re: Installing front wheel bearings

I use a piece of 12" long 3" exhuast pipes, a length of threaded rod and some bearing race/seal drivers to press the bearings in/out on my cars.

With the above tool I can do it without taking the knuckle off the car, just have to remove the axle from it.

Otherwise my dad has a 30 ton press I can borrow that works well too.

We've always used the old bearing case to tap in the new bearing. Try to keep it relatively even when doing so if you try.
