2 piece Intake support brace - Use it or Lose it?

I'm redoing the plumbing to my fuel rail and running into an interference issue with the support brace that mounts under the elbow on my 2-piece intake.

I know that the bolt that holds the bracket to the manifold needs to be installed to avoid a massive vacuum leak, but will leaving the manifold supported only by the 8 bolts mounting it to the head cause problems down the road?

Does anybody have any experience with this?

    Thanks,
    Warren

No experience with it. Feel like it was put there for a reason. Manufactors do not often add something like that unless it was needed.

well, Ive been running my 87 GLHS with one, and Ive been running my 86 GLHT with out one. So far no issues with either! I know a LOT of people that don't use it.

So my opinion is to loose it.

if you find out you really need, it, then Im sure something could be made up to work the same but with the clearance issues resolved.

+1. My CSX has it. My Daytona does not. No issue so far.

I think it was overkill by Dodge as the design is pretty stout of the 2 piece. I ran mine with out it for 2 years. If you can't use it, then don't,

Depends upon how comfortable you are after porting out the lower half/bolt bumps doesn't it?

For me, I keep it, thinking of the weight of the upper half and the throttle body and whatever stress your intake adds to it.

Very true, however, i have not heard of a 2 piece intake ever cracking because of no brace. Have you?

Never heard of it. Also the 1 pc, which was saw much more use than the 2pc, never had any kind of brace.

Thanks to everybody that replied I'm going to leave it off.

It is looking like tomorrow is the day that the CSX will finally stop being headless...once again, the last minute pre-SDAC thrash.

Oh well, it will make it all that more relaxing hanging out with everyone at SDAC!!

    Thanks again,

+1 for the no brace people. I had used the intake to drag the motor out from under the car way back when. I was not thinking about things such as "will this half of the intake be able to support my yanking on it". I have come a long way.
