Shelby Charger Converted to TII, starter options....

Which starter do I have to run on my 86 Shelby charger? I converted the car to glhs electronics, and I'm running a two piece intake, tii turbo, etc I went to the dealer and they gave me two options:

    -bosch
    -nippendenso (sp??)

I know originally it had a bosch, but will it fit?

    any help would be great

Bosch will fit just fine, but the ND one is quite a bit smaller (but not really any lighter). In order to connect your harness to the ND starter, you will have to split the connector in order to relocate the mounting terminals. Beyond that its just a straight bolt on.

I prefer the ND starter, its smaller, has its own heat shield, the solenoid is tucked down out of the way, its a gear reduction setup so it uses less amps and spins faster. Far superior starter.

Does the wiring connect to the ND like it does to the Bosch?

Yes, as said above, you have to cut the plastic plug in two and then connect as normal.

Yeah, either one works just fine, the ND is just smaller. In the off chance that I have to replace it, it will be that much easier to change. My Daytona still has the factory 194K mile Bosch unit on it, still going strong.
