Unhappy 6.2 N/A Diesel GM van, muffler that won't friggin drone!!!!!!!!

Ok, built a nice system for my full size Chevy van, 6.2 N/A diesel. I used Hummer headers, 2.5 inch mandrel bent Y-pipe and 3 inch mandrel to the back. I was using a Super40 as thats what I had kicking around, it droned alot at 100-120 but the Fluid damper shut it down alot more. I bought a Hooker Aerochamber figuring it would be very quiet, I have heard them before and they were, WRONG. Its so f*cking lound at 100-120 I can't hear myself think and it braps something fierce, sounds like crap at certain throttle angles.
What can I use, add a resonator, add a cherry bomb? Magnaflow and resonator, please help???????

i like glasspacks cuz they are dirt cheap, and they quiet the tone at low throttle and dont do much at high throttle. if you use it by itself then it will be hella loud at wot but with another muffler i think it would mostly quiet down the low-flow situations like light throttle cruising.

Thanks, I might do it but I might be getting an 05 Duramax muffler so I'll put that on, that will be quiet,

Magnaflow... the 24" long 5x8 should do the trick if you are running a cat. I don't think you are, so I believe that is most of the drone problem right there. You almost need to make 5" in diameter tube about 15 inches long and weld it in where the cat would go. This will help to change the harmonics.

This diesel doesn't have a cat. So if I got the biggest one they make, I should be ok?

I just found a Duramax system for $60, I might just put the muffler on and be done with it.

Just get a good CAT.... that WILL solve your problem or you can hit me. Just get one that is the same size pipe as you are running. SO 3" CAT meant for diesels. I wouldn't bother doing anything else but that.

A regular cat will get plugged up by the soot in the diesel exhaust in a very short time. Best advice I can give you is run a BIG muffler if you want to get rid of the noise. The factory d-max muffler should be good choice.

Actually, Walker says there regular cats will work just fine in a diesel.

Yeah, I think I will just resell my muffler on Ebay and buy the Dmax setup.

The DMax muffler working. Typically resonating is delt with thru length and volume. Loudness is done with mufflers, unless the muffler significantly changes the volume like a big oval.

These mufflers are big, and if you've ever been inside a DMax, you can't hear any exhaust,

But how much different in size is it compared to your current one? What about the exhaust pipe?

    Frank

There both 3 inch systems, I would say the DMax muffler is 3-4 times bigger than my Aerochamber which ironically, is bigger and more baffled than my Super40 which was quieter.

Not sure, I pick up the system this weekend so I can measure. I would say off hand that the DMax is longer than mine.

These older 6.2/6.5 GM diesels are notorious for getting a droning sound from the alternator mount at certain RPM's (I'm sure you know this already from GM-Diesel). Just want to make sure that's not the sound you're chasing

Thanks for the suggestion but trust me, thats not it. I thought I was putting on a quieter muffler. I would gladly take a hit in performance to shut this thing up.

I also put a Fluid damper on, those things are awesome, the difference is night and day,
