    3" round muffler&wastegate muffler opinnions

I'm looking for a 3" in/out muffler to go where the cat would be. I have a fart can on the end, its a little loud but I like how it looks(have an E cutout when needed). I would like to get one in a smaller dia, want it quieter, have some length to work w/ (maybe 30"??).

Or if a regular oval muffler will fit good/better(not hang too low) there I'll look into those(I assume they are quieter).

I know lots use ultraflow's, what about these, anyone use one

trying to stay away from these glass pack types(dont think they do much)
    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=HED-25016

I am also looking for a straight through muffler for the wastegate dump(1.75", may flair it to 2" for better options) And no I'm not plumbing it back into the exhaust). I will make both of these mufflers go underneath in the center of the car. They are to be removable when needed. I'm more worried about the space that the wastegate muffler takes up because it will be underneath between the frame rail and the reg 3" exhaust, and not hang too low.

Pretty much like this, just looking at muffler options

Just looking for some input, and not a bunch of "just plumb it back into the exhaust" or "get rid of the fartcan"

    As allways thanks in advance

Since you didn't say "don't say this," why do you want the wastegate muffler? Aim it at the ground. Best sound in the world.

Re: 3" round muffler&wastegate muffler opinnions

    LOL

I bought a Borla XR-1muffler for where the cat was

For the WG I ended up plumbing it back into the exhaust 2' down the pipe and before the cutout

I did buy a magnaflow 1.75" muffler though and still have it, hmmm

How do you like the loudness and sound of the car now? I got a 3" exhaust waiting to go into my tona with an XR1 out back and a 3" Magnaflow Cat in between.

Don't know much about external wastegates so i figured i'd ask: why was your intention not to plumb it back into regular exhaust?

.. and what the hell kinda car would need a 1.75" magnaflow muffler?

Re: 3" round muffler&wastegate muffler opinnions

Cause you can run a 3" exhaust plus a 1.5" dump pipe or a 3" exhaust with the 1.5" pipe shoved back into the exhaust, which if not done carefully, hurts power even more

I have done a bunch of open dumps on external WG setups. I myself do not like the sound. I like plumbing the dump back into the exhaust.

I know a guy who made his own wastegate muffler out of some kind of old metal thermos and some packing. Apparently it did something.

Mmmmm, so you don't hammer it around cops? My van is quiet until you get to WOT.

yea well when one is hiding in a parking lot behind buildings and only looks up and comes after me because of overly loud exhaust I learned. Must be getting old but Gus had it right, "Stealth is the way to go." Be fast and silent get's you into a lot less trouble.

Re: 3" round muffler&wastegate muffler opinnions

If your car is only pulled over because it made noise, maybe an open wastegate is the wrong choice. Cops don't let quiet v10 bimmers away any easier though.
What I am getting at is that if you are in it to be slow, who cares about having a good performing or sounding setup. You will get pulled over for driving illegally regardless of the noise.

Or, if your wastegate opens from zero to 30mph and you have traction, put 15 mufflers on it, I don't care. Part throttle and half boost (no wastegate) is plenty. Anything beyond that and you have no excuse for the police regardless of noise.
