Hey guys ordered a new motor for my 89 shadow es. Ordered it from a junkyard dog search. when I went to pick up motor from shipper.it was a 92 acclaim motor. It had no turbo and was throttle body. The place keeps telling me that the motor will work I just have to put my intake dist and exchaust turbo etc on it. I see where I can add my oil lines. will this motor work. They keep saying it will work and that if I reject it and they find it to be a turbo motor I am out the freight back to them and have no motor. prettyu much lose 204 dollars. somebody help before this turns into a bad situation.

In a nutshell, it will not work without major mods, end of story. Did they tell you it was a turbo motor and that was what you would get? Do/did you get any verification that it was to be a turbo motor(receipts, etc)?

If it is throttle body injection, it has higher compression and will NOT work without major modifications.

if it is TBI you will need to change:
rods
pistons
intake man
exhaust man
head(if the one on there is not stamped TS)
drill holes in the block for coolant and oil lines
swap 'oil block' from turbo engine
add fitting to the head for the coolant line

that is all i can think of off the top of my head, there may be a few other things but those are the main ones

yea, its no good for you. pistonss are diffrent and it would not run properly

So, why would they say its a turbo motor if it has a throttle body injection set up on it? Are they saying it WAS turbo'd and now it has a T.B.? If so, it would have the oil drain drilled into the side of the block underneith where the turbo normally sits.

I would tell them you dont want to take it. Tell them you are 100% positive a TBI motor will not work and this one looks like a TBI motor. End of story.

Wow, what a bunch of retards. Yep, there wrong 1000%, send it back on there dime and you want the right motor. If you used your CC to pay, phone them and get your money back.

If you used your credit card to pay I would phone my credit card company and dispute the charges.

Then let the junkyard sort it out.
