Pre 89 Oil Pick-Up Mode?

I got the round style oil pick-up. Was wondering how much material to remove from the mesh shield? Maybe someone has a pick or a link?

P.S. Garry has it on his site but it shows the later style square pickup. I got the round one.

I think I removed almost all the metal covering the screen. I may of left enough for the bumps, do not remember anymore.

Do you have the deep sump pan with a bulge on the bottom, or the flat bottom pan? There are two different round pickup tubes. On the deep sump ones I pull the whole disk out of the bottom.

I got the one with 2 bumps on it. It's an 88 T1 block. I will get a pick of it and will post it here.

I pulled the whole disk out of the bottom, then I used a pliers to recrimp the lip so the screen was nice and tight. It worked out well, because there was some junk in the screen that I couldnt see when the disk was still installed.

I take the whole piece out. Put the pickup in a vice, use a hammer and screwdriver to unbend the lip, aprox 1/2 way around. Use pliers and pull it out, DON'T damage the mesh. After you pull it out, use a hammer and rebend over all the lip.
