    cam options

    what cam would work good for me??
    88 shelby z 2.2 t2 555 2.5 side exit exhaust,... gettin a porche 944 cooler and possible swap to a hugh fmic sometime, later this spring its gettin bigger fue system and stage 3 cal... i dont plan on running more than 18-20 psi TOPS!!

    i was thinking a 88 tbi cam..... thougths??

    88 tbi or 89 and up T1 rollers are nice,
    1989 FWD Turbo Caravan-2.5 TIII, GT35R, auto, a/c, cruise, pwr windows/locks, fully loaded with interior and ran with full exhaust. RETIRED FOR A FEW YEARS! 12.57@104 :O)

    Ok. i rember hearing ans reading that the 88 tbi worked great for lower boost cars but higher boost cars didnt like them....

    2.2 TBI, not 2.5 TBI, just to clarify.

    There good for around 20 psi and lesss. Past that, they tend to bleed off boost, so where told.

    how can you tell the differance between 2.2 and 2.5 if i'm in the JY looking at an 88tbi?

    i have an 89 2.5 tbi cam off my junk parts motor. are those any good to replace a t2?

    2.2 is square tooth, 2.5 is round tooth.

    88 TBI is a great cam, but get a F3 to wake it up. Your car is a heavy tank, adding a bigger cam will get the ball rolling better

    As for bleeding off boost, yup the TBI makes power with more overlap. Which is great at lower boost.
