Fuel Solenoids and Methanol
Anybody know if the internals of a nitrous kit type fuel solenoid will put up with methanol over an extended period of time? I used a methanol safe solenoid I got off ebay on the Daytona, but I have the nitrous kit fuel solenoids laying around. If they'll put up with the methanol, I'll probably use them on the Sundance.
Thanks

Tony,
I'm not sure, but if they're just laying around, might as well give them a try?
I would think they'd last several years, if not longer!

Joel,
What I'm worried about is one failing over time and then not opening when it should. As much boost as the alky will be supporting I'd say a failure would melt slugs before I'd have time to blink. Aside from that, the solenoids would be coming from 2 complete nitrous kits, so if I kill them, I'll have to replace them for the nitrous kits to be of any use.
Thanks

Well according to the info I got on jeg's site they make special fuel solenoids for alky and nitro/methane with a teflon piston in them.

Why not just get one of those solenoids like you put on the daytona. It would save breaking up a perfectly good nitrous kit. Thats kind a why I haven't hooked that one off the camaro up as an extra injector although it would be tempting to hook the bottle line up as well and give it a 50 shot or so. Then replace clutch. lol

Ouch!
I think I'll stick with the ~$30 "methanol safe" water injection solenoids off Ebay.
