    FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Holy crap is all I can say. It is AWESOME. It makes power all the way to my adjusted redline, which is quite high.

Idle isn't that bad - I'm still pulling 13-15hg vacuum.

Kudos go out to FWDP and their research. Kudos to them also for their quick shipping! (More than I can say about other vendors, not pointing any fingers.. )

    Thanks Cindy!

This is a cam for the 8 valve? This cam eliminates the roughly 5200 km top out of our power range?

If you are talking about where the powerband is, and was, I would have to say that is going to differ for every car that is modified.

    I have the F3 cam, haven't installed it yet. What's your set-up?

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Thanks! The f-4 is a really nice cam for a really modded car, and definitely can hit some rpm's. But at was pointed out every car will be slightly different.

BTW our F-5 custom billet cams (not regrinds) will be out next month, more to come on that.

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Dang! F-5? Should I have waited? Eh.. no better time than the present, I always say.

    My car...

2.2 +40s on FWD billet rail w/AccuFab, 2 piece intake slightly ported opened up to 52mm TB, 52mm TB, ported exhaust manifold with 3" SV to 3" side exit exhaust, T3/T4 50trim in T3 housing Stage 2 .63 turbine , F-4 cam, stock head ported by me, Mishimoto intercooler with 2.5 piping, 94 523 trans w/3.5 FD, Revlok clutch, OmniPotent Blak-Trax posi, forged crank, T2 rods, .020 Mahle pistons, #4 cooling mod

Wow, is that it? Huh... well, went 12.509 on stock turbo with Mishimoto intercooler. 13.01 all day on S60 intercooler. Oh, and my own cal.

Very similar set-up as mine with the exception of I'll be running a 2.5 and a big valve g-head from FWD perf.

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Oh, that 12.509 on stock turbo was also with a stock cam. With the F-4 I have installed at the recommended 116* installed centerline with an adjustable cam gear. I can tell you that with just the cam install the car runs stronger than it EVER has.

    Any dyno time?

When are you going to the track, is that the only part you changed?

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Well, unfortunately it is not the only thing I changed. So, to get a real feel for what kind of extra power I am making will be hard. But, I can say this - I was having some spool issues with my turbo before the cam, and now spooling isn't an issue.

Track time - April 14th. Dyno time - very money dependant.

Keith - let me know if you need some tweaking on that cal!

LOL, thats always the case, you end up changing more stuff.

    What else did you change?

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Well, the 12.5 was on a slightly ported head (not as much as it is now) stock cam, 1 piece intake, stock fuel rail, 523 with 3.77 gears, stock turbo. Almost all stock stuff.

Now, I have added the 2 piece, more porting, 3.5 FD gears, billet fuel rail, t3/t4 turbo etc.

I haven't been able to achieve the 12.5 again.. mostly 12.8 or .9 with the new turbo... I don't think it will be a problem now - shooting for low low 12s

    Re: FWD Performance F-4 Cam

Your gain in spool time is more attributed to the head changes and intake change rather than the cam. From what FWD's site specs the cam out at it should push spool time in a direct swap back about 500-700 rpms I'd imagine.

I'd like to see a graph of the cars power output, any chance you'll be at a dyno any time soon?

Possibility of going to the dyno in the future, but nothing confirmed.
Maybe I can get that worked out.....

Without revealing your exact specs, can you give us some basic info on the F4 and soon to be... F5? Lift and duration? What springs need to be run?
