    Re: Shift fork pads ?

It depends on the year and model of the trans.

The 1-2 shift fork is typically thicker than the 3-4 or 5th forks so it requires a shift for pad with a wider channel molded into it.

Last OEM ones I've gotten for an '87 A555 were

1-2 fork - grey (wide channel)
3-4 and 5th forks - black (regular channel)

I have also seen whitish/clear ones out there, not sure which earlier or later trans they go to or if they are aftermarket.

    Re: Shift fork pads ?

Thanks for the reply, I just stripped an 89 520 and it had the gray pads on the 1-2 fork and I thought it should have had the white ones. Other transmissions I stripped had white, black + gray pads got a little confussed for a while there.
