Directional rims - Ninja, Le Mans - which direction?

Aight, I've seen these mounted both ways. One way looks better to me - like the center of the wheel is leading the outer edge - but what is the general consensus?

(After yanking the le mans off the csxt to put on the z temporarily, two different sized tires were found. I put two like sized tires on the front, and guess what? One passenger rim faces one way, the other passenger rims faces the opposite. The only way to fix this will be to swap tires on rims. Gawd, I hate morons.)

    Example:

to me, this wheel should be travelling to the right:

and this wheel should be travelling to the left:

My Ninja's are facing forward like the points of a Chinese star would be, going into something. I thought that was factory but at least make sure they are facing the same way on both sides.

I agree with your pictorials. I think that is how my pumpers are going.

I just dropped my LeMans wheels off at the Soda Blasters yesterday, I was looking all over for some sort of marking to indicate direction, but found none.

your pictures are correct, but if I remember right the 15" pumpers werent left and right, so ones side will always be backward, 16" were left and right different

I agree with the pictures and directions you posted. I've seen directional wheels and tires mounted wrong on more than one occasion.

Funny thing is, the ninja rims do not go the direction you think they would. They actually "go backwards".

    In this picture:

you are looking at the front passenger side wheel.

As illustrated by Ralph Scott's R/T:

I always thought they should go the other way like the 16" pumpers do, but I do believe they have arrows stamped on them to show the direction they are to go in. I have a set that I'll be putting onto my Daytona in a few weeks and I will be putting them on the way that they came on Ralph's car.

I may be reading way too much into it, but look at a set of pumpers from an aerodynamic perspective. The spokes are made so that when they're on the right way, they'll pull air from underneath the car. I'm assuming this would help with stability and brake cooling at high speeds. The back sides of the spokes are blunt, so it looks like they wouldn't do much of anything if they were on there backward.

Re: Directional rims - Ninja, Le Mans - which direction?

I know my pumpers help in brake "wetting" during a heavy rain So I would guess the air flow for cooling is pretty good in optimal weather...

Cool, that gives me a better idea of what mine will look like. Too bad I don't have any center caps.

So am I correct in guessing the "J" stands for your name?

Zed, then you have the 16" pumpers that came on 1989-1991 Dodge Daytonas (Shelby versions), as well as various Spirit and Shadow packages during those years as well.

    Nice!

Maybe I could get somebody to airbrush a beatup old Miller 8 pack on the doors or go with one of these...
