    Aluminum drum?

Has anyone ever seen one of these for the A413? I know they make a nice addition to a racing 727.

I have a stock drum in my garage, I may measure it up and make a print...

I've seen them before but never compared one. That part is in my town, Langley,

I could go to the local tranny parts supplier and compare to a stocker.

    Re: Aluminum drum?

I know it's not the same (12 clutch lugs vs. 8 for the A413; I'm sure the A413 is smaller in diameter, too). But, I don't see why one couldn't be made for our trannies either. It's a pretty big improvement for the 727...

Here's a pic of the stocker.

I would think one of the 8 second cars has something like that in it

I would be interested in the print(a guy at work makes me stuff since he has access to 11 cnc mills among other things and is on 3rd shift)

    Really?

Think you could get 2 made if I reverse engineer it and supply a print?

    Re: Aluminum drum?

this would be a damn cool part if it was reasonably priced. seems like a small diameter converter would make a much bigger difference tho. but for stock classes it may be too obvious

I can try, cant promise anything. Normally I can get small stuff that fits in my lunch box. He made me a 24 hole OBX spacer for my auto and a couple small peices that I used for my custom 2.4 mounts.

You have to tell me what material you want also because he has access to many(he's in too&die).

Also it would be good to figure in room for an extra clutch&steel
BTW do they make both front and rear billet drums for the 727?

I'm not sure. I looked at my A413 drums - the rear would be fine, I think. But the front has a small diameter spline (for the input shaft) that wouldn't hold up for long in alluminum.

For the material, 6061-T6 would be fine, I'm sure. 7075 is stronger, but more expensive.

I've already got an 8" diameter converter (custom built by Dynamic converters). NHRA/IHRA stock class doesn't care about that, interestingly enough.

I have 727 Dynamic built tranny. Fully rollerized, aluminum drums, alloy input shaft, etc... they make top notch stuff. Been thinking of calling them to see if they'd do some A413 stuff.

Yeah, that would be cool. The shell, its kinda loose inside the trans and I was thinking of welding it up but realized I needed a jig to center it.
