    Need Help. Linkage

I think I found the reason why my tranny wont go into second gear. It seems like the linkage is to short, Like when I go to put in second and let out my clutch i get a grinding sound. But today while I was swapping my center console I pulled really hard on the shifter, and I mean HARD, and it went into 2nd. . So what would be causing that? And how would I fix it?

    EDIT: ITs a 1990 Daytona VNT with a A-568

crawl underneath the car and adjust the shift rod. you should be able to loosen the bolt on the main rod, and slide it around a bit on the shifter. you'll be able to move it front/back and rotate it as well.

    good luck

that might have helped, since your username is 86GLHS, which i think are all rod shifted (unless swapped) correct?

Make sure the actuator lever on top of the tranny is tight and functioning properly. The lever is held on with a roll pin that becomes loose over time allowing too much slack in the system.

If and when that is tight, re-adjust the whole system. If you still have the problem, you might be looking at a bent shift fork (internal problem).

How are all 4 of the cable bushings? Can't you adjust the cable ends under the shifter as well?

well one of the bushings isn't the best, Yeah as soon as the weather clears up I'm going to adjust the linkage. And where could I find some of the new bushings?
