I got a sweet deal on a set of 17x7 inch wheels with a +43 offset.. Will these wheel fit a spirit R/T or should I start looking for wheels spacers?

come on, somebody throw me a bone
Go here
to find stock offset. Should be +40*. If it is +43 it really shouldn't** be too much of an issue.
*Not measured with a legally calibrated device. +/- 100mm accuracy guaranteed.
**Opinion and opinion only of a drunken Irish Mick screwball. NO legal culpability implied, voiced, typed or otherwise.
Yeah, the stock offset is +40mm. I don't think you'll have a problem with +43mm.
NO they won't fit now sell them to me a drastically reduced price
you got the wheels and the spirit bolt those suckers on there and see what happens
you know that 3 mm of offset is puny next to the ~12mm of width added on that side by going from 6 to 7".
bottom line is you will have 15-16mm LESS room from rim to strut than running a stock 15x6 or 16x6, so if you still have stockers on you can go measure that.

ah, maybe I shoulda got the 12mm spacers... looks like I'll be going to measure that tomarrow. Thanks, makes sense now.
well 17x8 or 7.5" width wheels barely fit w/ no spacer w/ a +35mm offset.
What about the fronts? Will 17x8's fit with struts, or will coilovers be needed?
Frank just recently posted about this in a different thread..

Measure twice cut once. Remember backspace and offset are two different entities and sorry if I was off!
Ummm....backspace and offset are EXACTLY the same thing. Just a different name....it is the measure from the mounting pad of the wheelthat goes on the hub to the outside edge of the wheel at the bead(closest to the car).
Hmmm...then somebody needs to write Car Craft and tell them they're wrong! I'd just got done readin an article in that magazine describing the process of fitting larger wheels, and I had remembered that being in there when I responded to this thread....
Please see the link VIGO attached above. It gives a visual representation of wheel offset (and has a very useful calculator).
I could not find an article that compared offset and backspace on Car Craft's website (likely because backspace was and is the standard for the type of cars they deal with mostly). If they did print that the two are identical, than yes, they are wrong!
To yogurt_slinger:
Using the calculator in VIGO's post, the difference appears minimal and tire height/width will likely be the determining factor.
Here is the difference between offset and backspacing, with a conversion chart.

^^ good stuff, thanks.
