Where did you get that from and how much was it?

If you do a search on Neons.org, You could find a Indy or BlackDog manifold for under 500 used.

I've thought about using the BlackDog manifold. It is basically a reworked DOHC manifold. So I figured there would be enough space to pass through the sparkplug wires.

I bought it from a guy on the srt-4 forums for 300.00 shipped, they're 500.00 new so it was a pretty good deal.

6 inch shorter runners than I was running, built in velocity stacks which can make an intake flow as much as 25% better. Also has a bigger tb opening, plenum and runners

Kevin, I can tell you this from my experience in Neon days. Generally, most of the turbo Neon guys found they worked pretty well up top, but at lower boost levels performance REALLY suffered. Considering your car is mainly a high boost drag car, that shouldn't be any kind of an issue. Were it a daily driver, I'd say run away.

I remember when they first came out and every NA guy had to have one, only to find out that they just weren't getting enough air in to see any kind of real top end improvement to overcome the inherent short runner torque loss. There was a good fracas over on the .org about how it was a $500 POS for NA cars.

He had too much bottom end torque as it was. He had to stage the boost for traction even with slicks! And on top of that his engine is a 2.4L not a 2.0L. I could be wrong, but I think it will work great!

The way this intake is setup I can see why a 2.0 na car would not benefit from Intake without some major mods done to it.But it is perfect for a forced induction in my opinion, espicially with a high stall automatic that rarely see's under 4000 rpm under load.We will find out this weekend hopefully.

I would love to see a boost and rpm plot from your motor from a stop to say as fast as you dare... no brake stands. i need to get a good feel for the motor turbo combo.

Because I want to try and get a round estimate on how well this turbo motor combo would work with a 5spd. Want to make sure of no surging, things like that. His testing is what is going to make me stop the V6 project and go 2.4L.

    Re: Indy Intake

How do people connect up the throttle bodies of these types of Indy Intakes?

I kind of like it because it doesnt have the horride elbow.

    Re: Indy Intake

Its setup for the srt-4 they have a tb mounting plate that hooks to that I believe. This intake flows so even between runners its unbelievable at wot cylinder 1 1600 deg cylinder 4 1620 deg wideband was at 11.8:1 at 7300 rpm.I cant wait to get these crane cams in,but the trans is coming out this weekend for some upgrades first.

That looks like it is supposed to be used on the 2nd and 3rd gen neon's that have the tbody bolted to the airbox and the hose that connects it to the manifold. Notice they call it the 2k_indy, 2000 is when they switched to that style setup.

    Re: Indy Intake

I had one on my 98 base motored Neon....it ran the same in 1/4 as stock....and hurt bottom end power....BUT came alive with big TB and 1/4 had moe mph and better ET. The TB end came up a lot more on the older ones.
