A neon auto is, for the most part, the same as a 413 with a different bellhousing obviously. The issues using a neon quaife refer to using a t-350 quaife (the one used in 520/523's and in 555/568 hybrids), it can be adapted to an automatic using a spacer and some mild modding to the diff cover. There is no auto quaife for our cars.
I guess I shouldv'e been more clear. Can I put the 3.05 ring /pinion from an A413 into a Neon 31th? Or am I stuck with the 2.86 gears for the Neon auto trans?
I think you mean are the transfer gears compatable. The 2.86 ring gear corresponds with the Neon 2.98 FD ratio when using the 1.04 transfer gears, while the 413 3.02 FD ratio corresponds when using the 1.06 transfer gears.

No, I know the transfer gears are compatible. I meant the 3.05 ring/pinion combination from the A413. There were 2 different R/P combinations available for the TD A413 - 2.86 (60/21) and 3.05 (61/20). The Neon trans only comes with 2.86 gears. But, I don't know if the gears/shaft are interchangeable.Originally Posted by Frank

Maybe. I've seen this done at work by the trans guru. (chrysler dealer) He used the ring and pinion from an older (88) shadow 413 to a 95 neon 413. I think he had to change the output shaft and transfer the governor. I'm pretty sure as long as you go with the matched set, you should be fine.
yes they will fit.
Rob,
Yes the gear set will swap in but you will need to use the governor support for the gearset your swapping into the Neon transmission.
Sometime in the '90's Chrysler increased the register size of the governor support and the output shaft so the later ones are larger.

Yes you can but the dohc neon autos had a higher ratio then the sohc. Not sure which it was but I think it was over 3-1Originally Posted by ShelGame
