I've been wondering this for a while...has anyone done back to back dyno testing of different wire sets? It'd be an easy test to do...wondering if anyone has done it.

I will do that come Spring----We have a dyno place real close to the hose and I don't mind doing that. I have 8.5 Taylor Wires and 10 mm Magnecors in my stash.

Taylors aren't that good, overpriced, thinner core. 10mm Magnacore's probably still don't work as well as the Aurora's I sell.

Re: 10 mm Spark Plug Wires

I'd like to know how much better the wires really are ( back to back dyno). I run some crappy 7mm wires and don't have any issues. The coil wire even has spot where it hit the timing belt and you can see wire. Based off the trap speed of the car I'd say it is around 270whp (It had a cracked a piston at the time). I just don't get the feeling that I would gain much if any power from better wires. I do have a couple of sets of Mags 8mm's on different cars. If anything I think the problem will be with the cap and rotor becoming a bottle neck. I think the 10mm will be much better then OEM stuff and I don't recall anyone performance caps and rotors.

SCC did this test a few years ago. Magnecores came in just about last place in the dyno results. They also tested the resistance etc... But, they are the most efficient wire that is a full supression. Our TDs don't need that kind of electronics protection.

Good to know, I know one of the tuner mags years ago tested a bunch of wire sets and it was quite suprising the results. I have had customers comment on how much smoother and more power it had when I changed out only the wires, and some were woman,

    SIMON,

Once I get a little closer going to the dyno this Spring, I will buy a set of the Aurora Spark Plug Wires that you sell and I will do back to back to back testing on the Dyno. I will have each set of wires already attached to a distribuator cap and I will do two pulls with each wire combination.

Re: 10 mm Spark Plug Wires

I also supply MSD wires which are 50 Ohm/ft. Magnecor is in the thousands of Ohms per foot. Others are generally somewhere in between.

Here is a decent article on it granted it is bias toward my product:

    http://www.stealth316.com/2-msd-ignwires.htm

Resistance isn't everything but neither is suppression. Suppression only needs to be good enough to not cause problems which pretty much any wire has been shown to be good enough despite Magnecor's claims.

Look into the materials of the wires and make your own decisions.

Remember that the size of the core is more important than the spec size of the wire. As simon has pointed out often it is all just insulation. The 10mm will also be a PITA to get into our distributors. Generally 10mm wire actually strips back all of the outer sleeve and crimps to the inner sleeve on the terminals anyway so it is more or less useless IMO.

Good wires won't show any Dyno gains but bad wires might show loss....

I also offer a modified distributor cap with a more conventional terminal with matching wires.

I can't believe how many people are selling wires for us all of a sudden. That is a good thing.
