    stratus vs srt-4 head

I know the srt-4 head is supposedly the best flowing head, but does anyone have any numbers on how much of a difference it is?? Will it make much of a difference on what type of package i need to make 450-500 hp? I'll be using srt-4 blocks.....should I just hold out for an srt-4 head or not worry about it until I try to make more hp??...Thanx

Either head should be able to support 500 hp unported.

Largest difference between them is the exhaust ports are different shapes between the two heads.

What he said, in stock form, there pretty close. I would say go with the older head but with parts being readilly available and cheap for the SRT, get whichever head you can find. Cams swap between them also.

Is that a differece between all 2.0/2.4 heads and the srt-4 or is it a year deal like first or second generation neon stuff, say pre 1999?

the block to head oil passage changes late '01 to '02. I dont think they made dohc 2.0's these years, so 2.4's from 02 and up including the PT and SRT4 all share the same shape hole. all 2.0/2.4's from 01 down to 95 have have a different hole. If you read the 2.4 swap thread on here it says what you have to do to put an SRT(newer head) onto an older block. I tried looking breifley on neons.org to see about putting an older head on an SRT4 block.

ok thanx Speed, I did read the faq about the new head older block swap, but like you said, I didn't know of anything for the reverse situation so I'll just keep my eyes peeled for a 2002 and up head and not worry about any matching issues.
