    Fuel tank questions

I pulled the tank out of my Daytona and it is really nasty inside. It has been off the road since 1993. The fuel pump is shot too. I could get a complete used tank with pump for $150. A new tank and pump from the auto parts store is $210. So I am leaning towards the new pump and tank. Has anyone used or have feedback on the after market fuel tanks? Are they crap or are they OK.

    Re: Fuel tank questions

I've used aftermarket new tanks an two different tm's and were fine. The only problems i ran into were they didn't include a new filler tank grommet/gasket/boot, and for the one on my daytona it didn't include a new grommet for the orvr/ canister vent elbow. All i did was use a cut-off wheel to remove the old tank from around the rubber i needed to reuse .

I replaced mine in my charger with one from Rock Auto--cost was under $100 for the turbo model and it was made by the same people who make the original [both made in Canada ] Bob

I put it in and it seems to be fine. I needed to get a new fuel pump and that came with the gasket. I also needed a new gasket for the filler neck and that was $18 from the dealer.

I find the aftermarket ones are thinner but when you pay over half less than a OEM one, I guess theres a reason why. Durability wise, haven't had an issue with any of my customers yet.

    Re: Fuel tank questions

I installed an aftermarket tank a few years back and I noticed my fill capacity go up by about 6 liters, anyone else noticed that?

    Re: Fuel tank questions

When I put the new tank in I used the new o ring that came with the new fuel pump. I used the old locking rings for the pump and sender and the old sender gasket because I did not have a new one. I moved the box that the tank came in today and new o rings and locks fell out for both the pump and sender.
