    I have no issues with the tall deck tensioner being too tight, I actually need abigger tensioner. I'm out of adjustment. I'm using the same hole you are.

    Its a guard for the early cars that used the exposed cam end type seal instead of the cap. It won't help keep your seal in, it's so you don't get anything caught in the rotating cam end.

    Oil feed is wherever you think its easiest for you. Oil drains have to be at the lowest point in the head or the oil will puddle before it drains. Pressure equalization line is high up in the block...
