I've been away for awhile, but wow, your car is coming along great! Looks awesome, and has the performance to match! I'll have to check it out in person sometime.
I haven't updated this thread in a while. Wow.
I've had a busy year. All my car project energy has been going into other things, and we spent a lot of time this year prepping our new AMC Spirit...
That stinks that you can't finish the car for this year. I know how you feel: my own $20xx project has been sitting in the garage for about 4 years unfinished.
Are you guys still planning on...
The car looks AWESOME. You should swing by sometime with it! :thumb:
Thanks Pat for the quick answer! Maybe I can pick up some line this weekend.
So... I haven't turned a wrench on this car since last summer. :( My POS Dodge Dakota has sucked every second of spare wrenching time up, so this has sat. Also, it has been such a brutal winter up...
Oh man... this thing RULES. Can't wait until I can see it in person in October!:thumb:
I guess the 4.2L's have a stronger rotating assembly, so I'm really eager to see how much boost we can toss at this Spirit.
Our 4.0L had 240k+ miles BEFORE we turboed it. It ran 12.9 in the 1/4 at last year's Challenge on around 11psi. We ran out of fuel with the stock fuel pump and the upsized injectors otherwise we were...
I think we are leaning toward a turbo Jeep 4.5L/4.7L Stroker if we keep it under budget. We need to figure out how to make it handle first. Also, it has a 3-speed auto, which will most likely get...
Pat, you guys shouldn't have to worry about the Jeep anymore, because I don't know if it's ever going to make it back to the Challenge. We have a new project now :
...
Yes, please buy the issue. I hear there's a really cool vehicle on the cover. :eyebrows:
Congrats again Pat!
The past few months have been really busy for me, and I have had pretty much zero time to work on the CSX. The car has sat, and it's taking up space in the garage that I need for other projects.
...
Congrats for the back to back wins! I still can't believe how close the end results were again. You guys pretty much did exactly what you did last year, which is quite the accomplishment. You guys...
It's definitely cool, and different. I happen to have two stock intercoolers kicking around. One's the stock one and the other is from a Daytona/LeBaron. I'm getting stupid ideas....:eyebrows:
I've been seeing the video all over the place, and I just wanted to pop my head in here and congratulate you on building one INSANE car! Nice work!!!
Pat, going back to your 1st post with pictures (and getting back on topic:p)....
That intercooler setup is making my head spin! Twin intercoolers? I need to see that in person to understand it....
Effing magnets, how do they work?
When axles shear apart inside the transmission, a telescoping magnet is your best friend.
No Under $1k class? I know they used to do it. I was building my car to be competitive in that class. Oh well, now my budget doubled.
I'm glad that there will be a strong showing of Turbo...
Nice work Pat! I will again be taking notes for my CSX build. :eyebrows: I wish I could have made it there this year with it so we could have had dueling "Under $1K" cars".
We will be there...
I used to have wheels just like those on my old WRX. Mine were Rotas, but I bet those are the Drag Wheels version, right? Either way, they are copies of Work wheels, but whatever. :p I always thought...
Very cool pics! Like Joe, I wonder if my CSX is among those cars.
Good luck everyone!!! I'm sure people are confused as to why 80's (and early 90's) Dodge econoboxes are blowing away their Chevelles and Camaros. Keep it up!!!:thumb:
This car looks better than mine did when I started restoring it! :p
I wish I had money for that wheel. Mine looks like a dog used it as a chew toy.
