btw, are you getting any codes? i think you just need to ground pin 'A' and 'B' in the ALDL dianostic connector with a paperclip and the CEL will flash the codes at you. it will start with code...

possibly the turbo. mine would smoke only at idle and it didn't have any shaft play either. every time i started driving the smoking would stop completely, but then at a stoplight it would smoke...
