    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

That's probably true... though there's wear and maintenance failures, and driver error failures at HP levels below that. Basically 150,000 mile trannies without upgrades or having the bands adjusted...

Yeah, if they have the same harmonics they'll pump each other, and good idea about recording the sounds and comparing, then you don't have to worry about whether your ear is leading you astray.

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

I'm thinking a road tire at 36 PSI or so makes a dull ping, and a stock spring a low "dung", so a lower pressure slick and a stronger spring might be closer.

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

    Good point...

I guess you could whack your tire and whack your coil spring and if they make close to the same note, then rig it so they don't.

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

I can see your point there about the damping, yes tire shake may happen still if all else is "perfect", but it may happen sooner than it should if something is underdamped (spring hits a harmonic and...

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

That "tire shake" does sound like Reaper could have a point about the springs being under-damped though.... but could also be a little too much toe out under power.

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

Well if it dumps 3000lb on a pair of 600lb/in springs at the start line, plus whatever torque the front tires can apply, then yah, it's gonna squat 3 or 4 inches still.

Yah, best to be clear about what died...

So I guess that failure was high energy and made too much of a mess of the case to reuse the trans without rebuilding it in another case.

There's a steel tube in the middle of the bushings that doesn't let the arm move fore and aft, even if it looks like it's held by the rubber visible each side.

    Re: BadAss SRT-Z Update!!!

Maybe could try switching tires side to side on the front...

Thinking about how the surface will kind of burr and feather over one way, like the "grain" on the back of leather... so it's smooth...
