    Re: Cloning An ECU

Is that the same for all versions of ECUs? I tried another ECU today from an '89 Acclaim 2.5 n/a with similar results.

These are all SBEC units, and DCal only allows the SMEC option.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

Does anyone know how to contact the creator of the DCal software? I need to find out the Baud rate and format that are being used for the RS232 I/F.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

What part is used for the EEPROM? There are some that require 20 volts to reprogram them, but they should be readable with +12 volts.

Do you put it in RUN before powering the ECU? I have been...

    Re: Cloning An ECU

I just tried it again in both 16K and 32K mode, with the same 'ACK Error'.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

I have been using the 32K mode. Should I try the 16K mode? This is from a '91 Daytona.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

Yes, they are on the same ground. The PC should be grounded through the Schmartboard. The two supplies and the ECU grounds are tied together.
    I am using 9600, 8, None, 1.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

I hooked up an ECU to my desktop. I used a Schmartboard, plugged into my PC serial port and connected to the RD and TD on the ECU. The ECU was powered by a +12 Volt power unit. The Schmartboard was...

    Re: Cloning An ECU

I have a desktop PC with a serial port. It will be a real chore to hook it up. I can bring the spare ECU into my computer area, but I'll need 12 Volt and 5 Volt power supplies. that's a better...

    Re: Cloning An ECU

My laptop doesn't have a serial port other than USB. I'm going to try the schmartboard that others have suggested. That seems like the right answer.

It will be a USB to Serial Converter, then a...

    Re: Cloning An ECU

That's why I am using a spare SBEC unit to get this worked out.
Does the schmartboard do the conversion from 12 - 15 volts to +/- 5 volts?

    Re: Cloning An ECU

I have downloaded Dcal to my laptop, and obtained a '91 Daytona 3.1 SBEC ECU. I also have a 60 pin connector from a harness.

    Re: Cloning An ECU

Good info! I downloaded Dcal from the Yahoo group, and got the pinouts of the 60 pin connector. I am almost certain that it's a SBEC, because there is no 14 pin connector.
I printed out both 60 pin...

    Re: Cloning An ECU

It's not a production Daytona, but a race car. It has a body, roll cage and a seat. I posted some pictures of the motor and ECM on the DCal group on Yahoo.

How do I get a copy of DCal to read the...
