I also need an L body HVAC box, one from a car that has A/C. It's the big black box behind the dash that has the heater core and evaporator in it, a complete one preferably.

Amen. Once you tow with one of these...

Specs dont't mean much when it sounds like people are towing alot more with these cars then they were originally rated for.

Ford may spec the newer crown vic only at 2000#, but let's be honest...

I can't even imagine towing a car with another another FWD car......... If anything I think a Crown Vic or a Caprice would do a better job, something with a full frame and some weight to it.
