  1. Interior Re: Tilt steering column for 1989 G/J body

You are correct, the 1984-89 G body and 1987-89 J body use the same column, I gather your old one isn't salvageable? As I mentioned in your other thread I have a 1984 Laser column, tilt wheel...
  2. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

You just actually stated your problem, non-tilt columns were Chrysler built and very skinny, tilt columns were Saginaw built and other than the Chrysler specific pieces are pure GM inside and pretty...
  3. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

What I found when doing my other changes was the tilt columns are basically the same, but the upper mount and the lower hoop are different on the G and J body cars from the K and E body cars. The...
  4. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

Ok, here are the pictures of the two columns: Pictures in order are:1 K on top, G & J below, top view of mounts, 2 same sequence from the bottom, 3 K column, 4 G & J column.
I f you can repair the...

    Sticky: Re: Connectors

I may have some information on parts and sources to add to this as I have been wrestling with the same problems on my project.
  6. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

Part of the guts are the same, the outer tube is Chrysler specific. If you can cut off and reweld the upper mounting bracket, the stripped down K tilt column can be made to work. The difference is in...
  7. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

Yes, I have two sitting here, let me see if one is the asymmetric mount the G and J bodies use, I am pretty sure the complete one is from an 84-86 G body (it came from a Laser). The stripped one may...

    Re: LeBaron Konvertible

I guess I really do need to keep up with this. First item, there was a spot on the driver's side floor where the Reliant floor pan that had been severely beaten up by the Newport News fire department...

Re: '85 wagon window track fix

The convertibles have rubber seals with a couple of small guide "bumps" with felt covering. Those are new. Left side plastic guides were shot, right side are still in decent shape, window needed...

Re: '85 wagon window track fix

I may have to look into doing that on my konvertible. Those windows are even bigger than the 2dr sedans due to the complete lack of an upper frame for them. Somewhere I have probably the last new set...

    General Re: Need windshield

I had the windshield shipped to our local glass shop, Accomack GoGlass, Monday 30 September they came down and installed it, Thursday I put the exterior trim and side window weatherstrip channels on....
  13. Re: Tilt steering column bent while driving?!

Sounds like the tilt mechanism either broke or came loose inside the column. It is a Saginaw (GM) built column, just modified for a Chrysler lock and switches. G and J bodies have a slight asymmetric...

Re: 89 turbo mini van ....no spark

Johnny, is the ASD staying engaged when cranking? If you have a spare distributor, you can use it connected to your engine harness and spin it with the key on to see what happens, ASD should close...
  16. Electronics Re: 1985 1986 1987 Turbo Power Module wanted

I do, I was going to give it to fellow in NC, James Riveland but he quit replying to my messages on FB. It was the one I used on my T2 converted Lebaron, now I have an SBEC.
  17. Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)

Damn, and I thought the 1992-96/7 Ford truck speedometers were strange. On them a bad courtesy lamp fuse will kill the speedometer (and the transmission acts weird if it's an E4OD).

Electronics Re: Dodge 600 ES digital dash with Tach

Mine does work, I had it in my 1985 after I converted it from the dead 2.6L to a 2.2L turbo II. I wanted a tach rather than the system monitor. I had to resolder all the LED pins on it.

  20. Re: Are later GJKHPA Rear Suspension Mounts a direct bolt on to early cars?

No problem, I did a pretty long list from the parts lists. I first was going to use the entire rear suspension from the 1989 J turbo coupe, but found like the 1986 one, the anti roll tube was broken,...

  22. Re: Are later GJKHPA Rear Suspension Mounts a direct bolt on to early cars?

I used a 1995 rear suspension on my 1986 Lebaron convertible, the items I found were: Bolt pattern changed to a longer area somewhere between 1989 and 1995, parking brake cable angle is different...

You wouldn't happen to have a Turbo 1 SBEC from one of those? I am in need of an extra to be socketed as a flashable SBEC.
  25. Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)

Wayne, did some more fiddling with the one in my konvertible. Tach boards are the same, dawned on me, tach signal originates in the engine controls (LM, SMEC or SBEC) so whether it is pulses or a...
