  1. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Late here but congrats on the full runs! Messing with the return spring definitely seems like the easiest thing to try if you are doing your own transmission work. Im sure putting 400+tq through a...
  2. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Oh wow, you've got a lot of room for improvement on the 60' then. A 2.2 @ 12 psi isn't even coming close to what the slicks can hold.
  3. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Seems like the 2 step is the main thing needed to get the 60' down. If you're pulling through the brakes but aren't spinning the slicks then with a 2step you could actually leave the line with higher...
  4. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Yeah, just cut 3 tenths by the 8th and you can go 10.99999 :p , but I feel like this car was built for a single digit ET so bench racing to possible 10.99 vs guaranteed low 11s I don't think is the...
  5. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Wait, so the hood is trashed? That sucks!!
  6. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Still at 28 psi? Looks like low 11s so far. Did you run into any real problems other than brakes?
  7. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Cant wait to hear! Lots of good times getting posted in this community lately, it's been fun to follow.
  8. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

I guess i should have qualified my statement by saying there's only so far you can go with this valvetrain before every time something goes wrong you are looking at the loss of some fairly rare and...
  9. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Well, based on one guy in the past who actually broke his unobtanium tIII rocker arms in half at 9200 rpm, i'd say there's only so far you can go up the rpm range with this valvetrain, and if these...
  10. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Sure looks like no point to aftermarket cams on a TIII if you ask me...

Kinda funny the 'curve' ended up peaking right where you let off on the first dyno sheet. It's not climbing past that, but...
  11. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Well, might want to turn on some of your fancy features so you don't run 13.5:1 afr @23 psi ever again! heh.

I know you want to build more boost on the line to power through your tall gears. I did...
  12. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Sounds like a lot to work on, but the car is intact and it's better to fight these than to be swapping out broken engine parts and STILL having to fix this stuff down the line.

    Ever consider some...
  13. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

    How high did you rev?
  14. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

May just be the sound on those videos but it sounds like it's leaving at a pretty low rpm. What rpm and boost are you launching at?
  15. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Well a 225/50/15 is ~23.9" and if there were no slip involved a 2.91 trans in 3rd would do 164mph @6700 with that tire diameter.

So, working back from that you can calculate that at 6700 rpm with...
  16. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Are you using the tire diameter of your slicks to get this?

    3.50 or 3.72 FD?
  17. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

That's barely legible but it's 'good enough'!
  18. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Well sure but for all i know that graph shows it still climbing at 5000 rpm. In the very beginning he posted peak 'recorded' power @ 7000 rpm so thats PROBABLY what the graph shows, but i'm still...
  19. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

I cant enlarge that to a legible size..
  20. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Now you just have to do like he did with that 2.4L CSX and go run some 10s first time out. ;)
  21. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

That adjustment down into the yoke is making me happy.
  22. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Glad you did those tests! I guess for you it is a function of light weight and skinny tires being used purely on a flat surface making it workable as far as safety/reliability. Thanks for the...
  23. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

Well, today i learned you can air up air shocks to 180psi and not worry about losing control at 140mph when one pops and changes your front end alignment with massive rear sag. Woah.
  24. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

As far as i can tell, what glh875 is describing is that the squat/rotation 'softens' the hit which can be helpful if you are on the edge of spinning your slicks. A car with no give in the rear...
  25. Re: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z T3 DOHC Tuned at FwdPerformance

It would be nice if air shocks were actually good at being shocks instead of acting like 80% spring and 20% shocks. The air shocks on the back of my SRT caravan suck pretty hard. Oh well.
