With a little more time spent doing that same process, you could have a fairly stout axle that would probably be pretty reliable, I would think.
I thought you wanted one to have vacuum all the time and the other pressure. One line pre-turbo and the other post. I tried it from the manifold before and it will work when you're cruising, but...
Man, that stinks. No time to pull the block and check what it is? Possibly put the old block back in?

hehe yeah looking again it seems to be that. Sorry, just thought about a piece of metal breaking free and enjoying the ride for a split second before causing some harm to a cylinder.
I think I see a piece of aluminum shaving on that one bung right by the throttle body.
