Congrats, JT. that's awesome.
Congratulations JT. That's a long time. Glad to see that you still have a fire burning for the car, and the club.
Thanks for that explanation. I think see what you're saying there. How much force is put into the attempt at twisting the diff perpendicular to the axis of the axles? I would think that the snout of...
I thought I read that the helical gears send 15-20 percent of the load axially? That load would be transferred straight out the diff case otherwise? I've been one to think that the helical gears are...
I agree that some sort of adhesive coating followed by CF would be a good way to go. You could easily cut it off to service the diff, but it would suck as a one shot deal. If you planned your layup...
Jon is JT With Hair. Jason is JT Without Hair. ;)
Wow. That was exciting to read, but it's a real downer about the axles and diff. 142mph is really moving along.
ETA: I want to see pics of this axle.
Now we're talking. Now that Simon is back on here I'm expecting him to come in and be the voice of reason. These are strange days friends.
Change 5 things at once and see what happens. :eyebrows:
Congrats on the new PB!
Angles nose toward the sky as high a humanly possible...
You don't own a scope?
I like the four channel job I have. Although I think I'm going to pony up the cash for a decent used bench...
That's great JT. A day without breaking is a day of success, especially with the luck you've been having lately.
I've always wanted a sweet handlebar mustache...
Did you think I meant armature?
There was a link which Reaper posted regarding the direction of stress for the different cuts of gear in transmissions. I didn't like what straight cut gears would do to some of the areas on the...
Thanks DJ. That was a heck of a post.
With your vehicles weight I don't think you can afford to plump up anything at this point.
Is it a must that you have an E brake due to rules?
Happy anniversary JT!
Pretty nice MPH on that first run and you didn't break anything. That's a pretty good day compared to what's been the norm as of late. Nice work.
I'm pretty sure we have that covered!
Yikes. That pass side axle looks like a file does after you drop it and it breaks. Wow.
Breaking those axles is some serious action. That stinks, but it's pretty impressive at the same time.
