    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

    Working theory.
Fuel pump or injector issue causing intermittent lean condition. The tach is functioning as designed, just responding to the drop in rpm from the fuel issue. Fuel issues can feel...

I keep forgetting the tach drops with it. Does it go all the way to zero?

    Re: Injector firing test

If the noid lights flash when you plug them in, and you have fuel pressure, then the fuel injectors themselves must be no good....

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

That screenshot to me looks like it is going very lean. You are losing spark duration due to a lean mixture. Unsure what cylinder or if it is all cylinders but highly suspect a lean condition.

Yikes. Did it act up when that screenshot was captured?

Also yes, OBS takes a lot of hardware resources. It struggled bad on my old laptop.

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

Gotcha. Ahhh yes. The trigger. Imo the trickiest thing to learn about scopes. I feel like getting a good pattern on that coil wire is gonna tell you a lot. Good luck!!

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

If it was clamped around the coil wire that goes to the distributor, that’s secondary ignition. Did the car act up while you were monitoring that?

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

I looked it up on Amazon. I don't think it sucks lol. Scopes are tricky and take a lot of time to learn. Does yours have a pickup for secondary ignition?

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

I used this scope. Not very mobile but I was able to get it to act up in the bay by blocking the wheels and loading letting the clutch out in gear....

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

I wouldn't be very concerned about the signal "noise." Sometimes that is just how things look on a scope imo.

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

Agreed. Fuel pump issues won't throw codes. But if you can log secondary ignition, and the fuel pump cuts out, you should see a change in the firing line of the ignition when it goes lean... This is...

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

The more I think about this,

I think you should just hook up the clamp to the coil wire. Have that as your only input. Make it take up the whole screen so you can see it really big. Drive. I think...

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

From some quick reading and looking at wire diagrams:
It looks like the LM gets power directly from the PM. The LM actually controls the ASD which supplies power to fuel pump, coil, injectors, and...

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

Seems like it’s still not determined if the cutout is spark or fuel related.
I would hook up a fuel pressure gauge and tape it to the windshield.
the O scope channels I would pick would be:
    HEP...

    Re: Difficult Ignition Cutout Problem

    So... Idea.
Most wiring failures happen at the end of the wire, aka the connector. Connectors are mechanical and fail more often than the wire itself. It sounds like your wiring is in great shape....

Re: Stumped - Car runs like crap

I really think it’s the LM. Key on/engine off. Looking at the timing data on the DRB3. It’s already asking for 80 degrees of timing. Before even cranking the engine. This explains why it starts so...

Also, the shutter wheel in the distributor is in good shape and the plastic rivets are tight.

Stumped - Car runs like crap

Long story, I’ll keep it to the required details. I need help getting this thing running right.

They are the same as the radio connector pins I believe, if you have any Chrysler radio harnesses laying around.

Ok. I realize I wasn’t well educated enough about the MAP operation of these cars to be calling my readings good. I am now 100 percent certain my running issue is a MAP problem. Key on engine off the...

Your patience will pay off. I think maybe start it up and let it idle in your driveway. While it’s running, just grab areas of different electrical harnesses under the hood and shake them around. Of...

1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!
