Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Mine should have run 14s, but I wasn't actually shooting for that when i put it together. I put this pressure plate in it, exactly as you see it, as an experiment. Stock v6/t1 pressure plate plus a...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Well, if you ever plan to boost it an in-cab fuel pressure gauge is worth the money anyway. I am "in the process" of robbing an in car fuel pressure gauge from one car to diagnose another one of mine...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

I agree with Brent. Put a $36 automatic ecu from the junkyard in it until you can verify that nothing else is wrong. Obviously something else is wrong with the car and it has nothing to do with the...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Well, one thing about Holsets is they are not built crappily. They are attached to engines that are expected to last 300k+ in harsh conditions. The internal gate will function as well as it can as...

    Stock cams + 7000 rpm = weeeeeeeee. :p

Is that still the one with the truly massive turbine housing? If its the later one that they downsized the housing i'd say its close enough!

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

I guess the easiest thing to do would be to have a spare valve cover and cut out a small section above a rocker (just pick the spot that looks like the least clearance) and then do some measurements...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

What would be nice would be if someone measured the total height between the valve stem and the valve cover, and then measured the thickness of the aluminum part of the stock rocker so we would know...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Ive had numerous occasions where my cars that sat had collapsed lifters with a dead miss and loud tick, and they would sit there and keep that miss forever at idle and it would never go away until...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Yeah, it looks like if someone was doing a full package and putting together a set of heads for high rpm 'from the ground up' they could make those rockers work with higher valve tip height, narrower...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

I, for one, was happy to learn that most parts stores sell an impact screwdriver set for less than $20.. and it comes with those massive bits. It really is the best answer, probably even the intended...

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

For simplicity you'd be swapping out a whole trans rather than mixing and matching one together, and at that point the install of a 3.50 vs 3.85 is identical. :p

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

Re: 3.0 Build Project: "Green Machine"

You WILL in fact be pulling the bearing by the outer race and ruining it. So since it has to happen, dont let that slow you down. :)
