    I don't see why that gearset wouldn't fit in a 520/555 case. I recall a guy with a really nice GLHS in the northeast...Marcus in CT maybe...that had Cliff Ramsdell build a 525 with a 555 input shaft...

    14.2-14.5V engine running on a fully charged battery is ideal; 15+ is certainly too high, below 13.5 is too low.

    Check your intermediate shaft bearings, especially the small one by the oil pump. It looks strikingly similar to the piece that I found in the pan of my R/T after the shaft & pump went south.
