Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

I was, but after finding the coil issue, I decided to drive. Glad I did.

We avoided the interstates as much as possible and found some really fun roads in Southern Indiana to drive that made the...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Figured I'd post one final(I hope) update to this thread.

As anybody that went to SDAC this year knows, I got the Scamp fixed and running sweet. Last issue with a random miss ended up being an...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Got a couple of test drives in last night. First one wasn't good. Missed and bucked, but that was the socketed ECU with the OE chip in it. My friend was worried it wouldn't run correctly because...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

No. I had it out recently to check it and adjust the float arm to get my fuel gauge more accurate, but everything was fine when I pulled it.

Like I said, fuel pressure never wavers during this....

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

I wanted to post a little update, and so I don't get folks off track, I'll keep it in this thread. Scamp has been running really well last 3 weeks. Went for several hour long drives, and it was...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

I did turn up fuel pressure. I'm running about 65 psi at idle right now to get where I am.

Unfortunately, until my friend gets me back a socketed SMEC, I'm stuck. I'm running a bone stock 2.5 T1...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

It wasn't in boost. That was cruising down the highway at 55. Showing about 15.2.

At 8 lb boost it's currently showing about 13.1

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Yeah, I'm hoping by posting, I help somebody else eventually. Even though the last issue was really my own fault. There was a point I was about ready to take a torch to it. But I could never...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Well, I finally have some good news to report. After getting the timing sorted, and rebuilding the steering rack, I was able to take the Scamp out last night for its first real drive. I had to bump...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

It's not hogged to the max, but I did a fair amount of porting and smoothing. Spent a lot of time on the transition from the intake to the head. When I was done, I bolted the intake to the head...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Yeah, I love my Daytona. First one I've ever owned, and I know why folks love them. Very comfortable to drive, and fun in the corners.

A bit off topic, but... As most of you know, I changed...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

803's because right now I'm using a bone stock 89 2.5 TI SMEC. I'm going to run that for a little bit until my friend has time to get one of my other computers socketed. Then the +40's and 3 bar...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Well, I am a complete idiot. I am man enough to admit that.

Decided to give it another try tonight. The whole timing issue was driving me nuts. So I decided to go against everything my gut was...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Yes on the distributor. It is the new style. I cannot get it in the window. The when I try, it just dies.

Fuel pressure is at 52 psi at idle. About 60 psi static Key on, engine off.

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Well, One step forward, 10 steps back for me seems to be the norm now... Barely made it to the gas station. Truck is still running like crap, and I'm out of ideas.

    I know it's in the truck. I...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Just wanted to post a quick update. I took the advice presented on here, and basically took the 2.5 back to stock. Installed a set of used TII injectors I had laying around, and borrowed a 2 bar...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

I didn't think about hot glue. Thanks.

My fear of not doing anything is what happens if you get caught out in a rainstorm? I try to drive it only on nice days, but I'm not afraid to get it wet....

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

OK, a question for all you tuners. I was looking at the socketed logic board I have, and the solder joints on the back look pretty nasty. They were black, like they were oxidizing. My buddy that...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

I managed to pick up 4 more. After testing this weekend, one had a bad power board. The car wouldn't start at first. Swapped that out, and it ran fine. So now all 4 are good. A couple have...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

Ok, after getting a few more SMEC's, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that there is an issue with the logic board in my socketed SMEC. The truck actually runs better on a stock ecu, than...

You were right though. A systematic, methodical approach is what you need to succeed. I have a bad habit of over-analyzing everything I do...

Re: MAP & CTS sensor questions

That helps a bunch. That is what I kind of figured out last night after re-loading the zip file for the stage IV tune. Makes a lot more sense now. Thank you!
