Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

Ok. I realize I wasn’t well educated enough about the MAP operation of these cars to be calling my readings good. I am now 100 percent certain my running issue is a MAP problem. Key on engine off the...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

Been chasing wiring on this thing all morning. This thing did not like sitting and the wiring is just getting old. I had a bad ground on the LH fender. After finding/fixing that the car started and...

1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

Doing some testing last night. I have 3 volts going to the coil and the fuel injectors. I checked voltage coming out of the power module on the ASD relay circuit. 3 volts on the wire just a few...

So. Fuel pressure is now perfect. But still runs like crap ugh. This car is frustrating me.

Yeah I checked the regulator. Definitely a bad pump. I just slapped one in and the fuel pressure is perfect now. Haven’t driven it yet.

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

So.... Monday evening I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to my car. It was fluctuating between 30-40 psi at idle. Snapping the throttle caused the pressure to drop. I left the gauge hooked up and let...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

So I have a 1991 Lebaron V6 wire harness laying around at my work. It was used, but in good shape. Multiple of the interior connectors had terminals that worked for the PM connector. I had to bend...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

I installed a new negative battery cable end as it was in very poor condition. I will be installing a new positive also, but it isn't nearly as bad and I didn't have much time yesterday. I cleaned...

Wow, the car has been sitting for over a year...
The fall weather and Richard Holdner's videos on youtube have motivated me. I have been picking away at the car the past week and this is where I am...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

I drive the car on and off, but never bothered to look too deep into the running issues. I finally started diving in and I think I am close to getting it running good. I did a fuel pressure test and...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

I've been driving the car a fair amount lately due to some issues with the daily driver. I'm still running into the same running issues. The car falls flat on it's face above about 3psi boost. It...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

Finally threw in the Carter fuel pump I ordered. Not happy with the kit and still need a new sending unit but just wanted it running again. Almost had a major crisis. Drove it to work right after...

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger Saved from the JY!

Hmmm. I’ve had decent luck with airtex but better luck with the carter brand so I am leaning that way. I will probably get a tbi Omni sender too so I can fix the fuel gauge while I’m in there.

Zin, I like that thought process!
issue I’m having is it seems nobody stocks complete pump/senders for turbo cars. Plenty of tbi but then I’d need to swap pumps which means more $$. Looks like I...
