Re: Looking for info on Hyundai v6 engines

My particular engine came from a 2004 sante fe. There are several hyundai and kia models that use this engine. It's a 6g74 block with the same DOHC heads that were used in the 3kgt. It has a wasted...

Re: Looking for info on Hyundai v6 engines

I got the engine to start today. I have the stock Hyundai coils working. They are logic level coils and do not require extra drivers to be added to the MS2. They are running off the LED circuits...

Re: Looking for info on Hyundai v6 engines

Okay, So this was really just a hypothetical kind of brainstorming post originally but my 3.0l decided that it didn't want to be in my van anymore. I'm not exactly sure what happened to it as of yet...

Looking for info on Hyundai v6 engines

I've been looking at the Hyundai variants of the 6g7x specifically the 3.5l(there is one here locally for cheap) and I'm wondering if anyone has ever compared the front of the blocks where the engine...

Re: True 3.0 compression ratio (its low)

That is very interesting. Thanks for posting those numbers! I always suspected that the combustion chamber volume was actually the same on all of the motors. I've owned all three "different"...

    Re: Speed Sensor through 1987

You can replace the reed switch pretty easily if you can solder. They are cheap online. I got one out of a $7 door alarm from home depot. Just seal the housing back up with silicone and crimp it back...

    Re: My 1988 Voyager 3.0

The only time I've ever had that happen was when I was low on coolant the engine will actually get hot but if it's low enough it won't register on the gauge. Maybe you have an air bubble. Is the...

Re: My v6 Drag Week build

Thanks for the update! I'm also glad to see that it's still around. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only 6g7x guy left around here.

General 87-90 caravan sealed beam parts

I'm looking for the Caravan sealed beam parts. The ones I want are found on 87-90 mini ram vans and European vans. They have a single 7x6 sealed beam. Not interested in the earlier dual sealed beams....

    Re: My 1988 Voyager 3.0

Looks great! Glad to hear you got it figured out. Just out of curiosity, what was causing the no start issue?

I can't see from the pics but does your van still have the clip that holds the upper...

Re: Heater resistors A/C vs no A/C

Maybe they just put it there to drop the voltage then. Seems kind of strange to me but they may have used it to save money. The input to the ECU might be at 5v logic level so they just stuck a diode...

Re: Heater resistors A/C vs no A/C

Is the diode there to clamp kickback currents from the blower motor? If there is something else connected to the blower circuit that could be sensitive to a reverse polarity spike the diode would be...

    Re: 41TE/604 operated by Megasquirt

I was wondering about that too. The early 604s just have the regular speed sensor in the extension housing but the newer ones have input and output speed sensors with nothing in the extension...

    Re: My 1988 Voyager 3.0

This is true. I stated this in post #33. The haynes manual shows a picture of this and you can see it on the inside of the cap. Normally the caps have numbers on top labeling the terminals though.

    Re: My 1988 Voyager 3.0

Sounds like you have it under control. If the distributor is one tooth off it will act just as you are describing. It will tease you but won't stay running. Like I said in my last post check the...

Re: Fuel pump only 25 PSI

I know you said you pinched the return line but I think you should dead head the pump with a gauge before you do anything too drastic. If you still get the same reading with the gauge attached...

    Re: 85 glh

I like the way you set up the switch. mounting Looks sturdy enough and the switch itself is beefy. My main concern was whether or not my switch would be able to handle the abuse. An omron microswitch...
  20. Re: What bearings for OBX in a late model a413?

If that's the case I think you have to use the smaller retainer. The 5-speeds never got the bigger bearings AFAIK. I'm pretty sure the only reason Chrysler used the bigger bearing on the a413 was to...
  21. Re: SEVERE binding on 2-1 downshift after full manual VB mod

Did you install the stronger spring in the shift valve and are you 100% sure the hole in the bottom of the VB is blocked off? Try putting it in neutral then back to 1st if you need to drive it that...

  23. Re: L-body (Rampage) Brake Upgrade While Keeping 13" Wheels

I had the 10.25" brakes with the big calipers on my van with the stock 14s originally. There was MAYBE an inch of clearance to the rim. 13s would be really close. I've been trying to sell the caliper...

  25. Re: Best clutch switch location for launch control/flatshift

Just a note, I have re-clocked my clutch arm since I posted this. The switch is not long enough now. I plan to put a bolt into the arm to get it working good again. Pics to come.

    Here's a link to...
