Re: Durability of adjustable cam timing gears

The Neon cam uses a small 1/8" pin in the end of the cam. And nothing else. No key slot.

And that's something else I have a real problem with. A pin 1/8" in diameter is all there is keeping the...

Re: Durability of adjustable cam timing gears

Yes, those Modern Performance gears do address some of my concerns. Although I think they could fit 8 bolts in there if they tried! :) Do they have one for a 5 SOHC 2.0 engine in a Neon?

    I...

Durability of adjustable cam timing gears

I have seen a variety of adjustable cam timing gears / pulleys, and I don't like the design of most of them.

First, anything with less than 5 bolts is asking for it to slip.

    Second, I saw an...

Re: Header with ball flange leaks. Fixes?

I researched the different types of RTV, and it seems the Copper stuff has the higheest temperature rating at 700 degrees, plus it specifically states it can be used on exhaust manifolds and headers....

I am very opposed to any emissions laws that interfere with my horsepower. Especially when we all KNOW it will have little if any impact on cleaning up the world while places like China can pollute...

Header with ball flange leaks. Fixes?

I have a 2005 Neon I recently got to repalce my 89 2.5 Turbo Spirit as a daily driver.

But I just have to tune it up a bit, and one thing I did was get a Pacesetter header and put it in. It has...

Re: 1990 SBEC 2.5 Turbo, Code 27 #2 injector driver?

I found the problem, it seems that #1 injector (closest to timing belt) had gone open circuit. It was 1 of a group of 4 brand new Pep Boys injectors I had put in back in 2010 and had about 45000...

Re: 1990 SBEC 2.5 Turbo, Code 27 #2 injector driver?

I had the idea today to pull the injector plugs with the engine runningto see which ones affected it. #2 and #4 were working, as pulling them definitely hurt the idle quality. #3 had no effect, but...

    1990 SBEC 2.5 Turbo, Code 27 #2 injector driver?

My Dodge Spirit has a miss in the engine. The 1990 SBEC 2.5 Turbo computer is showing the Code 27 for #2 injector driver shorted or open.

Which cylinders does #2 driver operate? 3 and 4?

    A...

Re: Car does not like to run in cold weather.

It will start and idle fine on its own even in sub freezing weather, it's only when you try to load it (like when accelerating) that it starts sputtering and dropping cylinders all over the place.

Re: Car does not like to run in cold weather.

The cap and rotor were changed last summer, same plug wires from 2 years ago. New (well, 5000 miles now) RN9YC plugs.

I came home from work today in 18 degree air and the car had the problem. Then...

I have gone through the car for pre-winter maintenance in the last couple months. Spark plugs were changed, I replaced the HEP with a "newer" one that had only 105K on it when the old one started...

Car does not like to run in cold weather.

My '89 2.5 Turbo Spirit (5 speed) has a problem I noticed a few months ago. Any time the air temperature was above 45-50 degrees, it ran fine. On cold mornings below 45 or so degrees, it'd sneeze,...

I changed my filter today that had a good 10K -15 K miles on it, the fuel in it came out pretty clean. Nothing like the above photo at all of the brown mud fuel!

I've been building Mopars for a good 20 years, to include RWD V8's and /6's of the 60s and 70s, and a variety of turbo and 6G72 FWD Mopars. I've built engines and automatic...

Modding an N/A 2.4 for a little more power?
