    Re: Knock sensors revisited

Wow, really enjoying the part of this thread on combustion chamber efficiencies. I'd like to add for what it's worth that there are other external variables that can influence detonation as well....

    Re: Grand Cherokee No Start

This was a common problem with earlier 4.0L jeeps, neutral safety switch failures.
  3. Engine Re: WTB: MP intake manifold for intercooled Turbo I

I've got a spearco over the trans intake and intercooler, none of the sheet metal ducting for the cooler or tb bracket. If interested let me know and I'll dig up pics.

    Re: Exhaust vacuum idea...

The mechanical check valve is to prevent the crankcase from siphoning exhaust were the flow to be reversed.
It "should" be installed anywhere between the probe (tube), and the next intersection...

    Re: Exhaust vacuum idea...

To get the most out of an exhaust evac kit, place the venturi in the longest straight run of pipe. This is usually the cat tunnel area. Insure the probe projects roughly 1/3 of the pipe I'd into the...

    Masi 16v Re: thermostat housing

I've also seen it used extensively on intake manifolds, even bolted directly to the head. IMO over the intake would be fine, now the exhaust on the other hand...

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

250psi at the pump, -5 psi head loss = 245psi plus or minus vacuum at the injector

I've run 1,2, and 3gph at that pressure for 1.43-3.4 gph total.

The log motor could take nearly 1gph at idle...
  8. Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

They make an anti fog liquid for dive helmets available at most dive shops in 50 ml bottles. It is by far the best anti-fog for glass ever made.

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

This is correct; injection fluid does not displace fuel. It does displace air however. The original purpose to the model was to determine a relationship between the amount of fluid (based on...

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

denatured alcohol is mostly ethanol, in the us it must be at least 90% ethanol in fact. The other 10% is mostly methanol with a little tolulene, etc.

if you were to tune for ethanol fluid, I don't...

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

Similar but not identical, both isopropynol and ethanol have different molar weights and enthalpies. Ethanol has a greater calorific value than methanol and iso much less.

    It is possible to tailor...

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

    Outputs:

Compressor outlet temp = this is before inter cooling or fluid injection.
Temp after water-meth = self explanatory.
Temp after cooler = this is final charge temp after fluid and cooler....

    Re: Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

    Inputs:

% weight meth = methanol content of injection fluid 0.0-1.0
Corrected Flow Rate = actual injection rate based on size and number of jets, as well as pump pressure in gph.
    Engine Volume =...

  19. Re: What's the difference between race gas and E85?

    Math time Yay!

    So it breaks down like this;
E10 (Most pump gas in states, all 87 & 89 pump gas in Ontario) has a blended (R+M)/2 octane rating equal to it's listed pump octane AFTER the ethanol...

    Water-Meth IAT Reduction Calc

I don't know if anybody else is interested but I thought I'd post this in case there is.
