    Look for flocked gaskets. They are steel core with some fuzzy material on the outside to take up space.

    There should be round nylon inserts with the new expansion valve. The inserts press into those recesses and help hold the gasket in place.

    If the system has been open for a while (years), plan on replacing the evaporator. When left open, the evaporator gets full of dirt. The dirt absorbs moisture and rots out the evaporator.
