Check the O2 sensor. I had one that cracked in two. Did the same as yours.
Cooling fan will do that. I have the same problem. I just oiled the fan bearings. It does com back when below -10F.
You need to switch the temp sensor to the one used for the gauge instead of the idiot light.
84 had a coolant switch in the radiator to switch the fan .
1.5 1.6 1.7 & (?1.8?) blocks are all the same.
Clips on most Chryslers.
Also there was the 6C17 variable displacement compressor. starting in 91 on the minvans. Don't even think about using this one. 10PA17c is the best for R134a

89 doesn't use the SMEC for cycling, SMEC only disables A/C at high RPM's. There is a cycling switch on one of the lines on the 89 vans.
some are also non-interference engines.
Need both for with and without tach. Trying to help interchange 88 cluster to a 89 cluster.
I have always been able to install all three from the top of the engine bay. The back bottom bolt is the hardest, but you can get it in from the top.
Can a Crossmember from a 91-95 Caravan Interchange with a 89-90 van?
I know the control arms are different, but will it bolt up the same.
