  1. Re: Converting a cummins "throttle valve" to a exhaust cutout.

I had a little exhaust leak that made me dizzy. I wound up using the flange to put the exhuast out the side so the leak wouldn't bother me. I never closed the thing, it sounded too cool.
  2. Re: Unleaded Premium w/ Alcohol Injection vs. Pump E85

It is fun to tune those in a dodge. I like to do it one day at a time on lower boost levels. Once it feels smooth and spools hard you can add in more boost. If you think about it, it's a lot easier...
  3. Re: Unleaded Premium w/ Alcohol Injection vs. Pump E85

    I have seen 1k cc's make over 400hp on E85 with a 37.5psi base fuel pressure on a DSM.

The 37.5psi base FP also allowed the person to make 400+hp to all 4 tires with a single walbro 255.

    If you...
  4. Re: Converting a cummins "throttle valve" to a exhaust cutout.

It will leak, and if it is not routed outside the car it will make you feel sick if you drive it far. They sell 3" eletric cut outs for ~$100 that do the same thing. There are also manual cut outs....
  5. Re: Unleaded Premium w/ Alcohol Injection vs. Pump E85

E85. It'll cost more, but there's nothing like it unless you have race fuel at the pumps.

    Re: Compression ratio reduction

I have this "aircraft" sealant stuff that makes a thick black paste. I put it on things I never want to take apart ever again.

You might want to make some det cans to be sure you're actually...

    Re: 20g?

I think it would be great for a 2.2/2.5. Make sure to do intake modifications like porting the IM and changing the plenum if you have a 1 piece. The more air you can get into and out of the engine,...

    Re: Turbonator SMEC codebase

I got mine shooting a 16" long blue flame out of my side exit exhuast with 12.5 degrees of timing and 3750 rpm. I forget the cut fraction, but I don't think I need more timing. I know EVOs with...

Re: Calibrating the 2.4 running stock electronics

I think the best way to find a good tune for a 2.4 SMEC is to go out on a long drive with someone in the passenger seat manning a netbook and tuning an ostrich. Tune until you run out of gas or...

    Re: Turbocharger Compressor Outlet Force

It's a little more complex than force. Torque on the shaft, yes, aside from the tiny amount of bearing lag, the torque applied to the turbine is the same as the amount of torque the compressor...

Re: MECHANICAL fuel injection (Hilborn, etc)

You would be better off selling the mechanical injection system to a collector and getting a set of bike throttles with fuel injector bosses then adapting it to a 1 piece IM. As cool as mech FI is,...
  12. Re: Hypothesis - aftermarket IAT sensor versus OEM

Ohming it out at ambient only gives you one point on a curve. You're basing your measurement on an ambient temperature reading from something of unknown accuracy. Ice water at atmospheric pressure is...
  13. Re: Hypothesis - aftermarket IAT sensor versus OEM

I think it is part of the enrichment no matter what. So starting, running, etc, it is used.

One thing I like to do is to not have any temperature compensation over ~140-150F. When the charge temp...

3" catalyst, 3" in/out with 4" case resonator. If you need more muffling you can add a glass pack.

    Re: Omni...intercooler under the car?

Stuff the biggest front mount you can fit in there. Anything else will suck. There's no reason to get tricky with the intercooler. The other option is an air/water, those work really well and you can...

    Re: Injectors- Evo 8 work???

EVO 8 injectors are 510cc. I know this because I am looking at a tephra V7 map for a stock EVO 8 right now. Your friend may have 660's but those did not come stock on an EVO.

    I ran 550cc's in my...

Re: Modifying a TurboXS RFL to not be so RFL?

A DSM, EVO, or Volvo valve will work well. Any OEM metal bov will normally work really well. Unfortunately boost breaks plastic valves.

Re: Going to upgrade to an air/water intercooler

The heat exchanger is key to the a/w system. Keeping the water cold is very important, and the only thing that does that is the heat exchanger. The IC does a good job of getting it hot, I can tell...

Limp in mode, can't figure out why

  23. Re: Aluminum pipe.. anybody using it? drag car? street car? Anyone?

I wouldn't weld tabs to an Al pipe, I would support it in some sort of hanging fashion. Then there is only cyclical fatigue on the pipe itself, which has a shape that is naturally fairly strong in...
  24. Re: What is the best buy wideband on the market right now?

I really like the LC-1. I like that you can get it without the gauge. I also like that you can datalog serially, and control the outputs. I use the narrow band gauge as a wide band in the power range...

    Re: what size injectors fit?

I run 550's (works out to 70 some odd pph with the fuel pressure bump) from a DSM and they ran just fine. You can get those in any flavor from 350cc on up to 1600cc and some of the blue max go beyond...
