The diverter plate is a T3 thing, if you use it be sure to add a washer/spacer the same thickess at the long through bolt/stud so the housing sits level otherwise it will crack.

I stop drilled the end I could access without tearing anything apart and caulked it with grey rtv. The proper fix will require the dash board and heater/ac box to come out to come out at the minimum.

That is almost exactly where my Shadow developed its firewall crack.
