Re: '93 Jeep 4.0 stock cal?

Thanks for the reply Rob! So have you given up on working on the disassembly or is it something you think you might get back to when you have the time? If there's anything I can do to help, let me...

    '93 Jeep 4.0 stock cal?

Not sure if this should go here or in other vehicles but here goes...
I've got a friend that mud races a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. I mentioned the possibility that I might be able to tune it using...

    Re: Spirit front speaker replacment??

I ran into that same issue Mike. What I did was to use the 5 1/4" speakers and seal them to the factory rain shields with windshield urethane (could probably use rtv too). The ones I bought fit fine...

Sticky: Re: Line pressure mod in valve body and theory

I'd try it w/the stock governor weights first to get an idea of where it shifts. If it shifts too late (or not at all at full throttle) then you could try the solid small weight to lower shift points...

Sticky: Re: Line pressure mod in valve body and theory

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but this mod should be usable with or without any shift kit you want to use. It simply allows you greater range when raising line pressure without having to...

    Re: The Vinyl roof Daytona

That back glass looks like a piece of plexi from a sub box.

I think if it were done right (not like that, more like the pic of the Firebird) the notchback look could work on a Daytona...

Re: Dcal, Chem, and GNU/Linux. Wine?

Lol. Never did. Though to be fair, I didn't try very hard either.:o Around the time I was fooling with it, I also discovered VNC and just started using that to do my cal work on the XP laptop from...

    Re: 555 bearing carnage

I honestly can't remember. I was told that the 568 shaft without the pressed on collar was the same od as a 555. We measured the shaft out of the 568 from my old R/T for a baseline, but I can't...

Re: Break in oil? which one?

Right. I ran across his site when all that was going on. I don't remember if I ran across it Googling or if maybe I posted to the board about the problem and you posted the link, or it might have...

Re: My A555 Story so far ....

Yours doesn't look like it would be too bad to fix. Not knowing how much metal has made it through the rest of the bearings, I'd suggest a good cleaning and all new bearings (you might could get away...

Re: Break in oil? which one?

I can vouch for the rev it under load and back off break in method. When I first got my '04 Sportster, I followed the break in guidelines in the owners manual. I don't remember the exact procedure,...

Re: My A555 Story so far ....

I've had a couple that were really hard to separate the axle from the intermediate shaft like that. I think the recommended method is to drill and tap the intermediate shaft for a grease fitting and...

    Re: ASD question

If the ignition is still firing and the fuel pump is still running as it's turning off, then it's probably not the ASD. The ASD is responsible for power to the injectors, coil, fuel pump, and O2...

Re: throttle body - exhaust dump

    Neat idea!
You could probably even add an old boost control, cannister purge, or baro solenoid in the pneumatic line so that you could keep it closed under boost and open it with a switch if you...

Re: Spirit R/T as a Daily Driver?

What else would you expect from a $800 Ebay find that came from northern Ohio with a new set of snow tires on the front?:)

Sure is. I think I had about $160 in it from Advance.
    Here's...

Re: A555 transmission bearing number list

I thought I saw someone mention building the shift forks up in the pad area by brazing to them and then filing the brass to the right thickness? I would think the brass would wear good and eliminate...

That and there are other ways around the problem of scarce radiators. A Shelby Charger radiator will fit nicely and allow you to keep the intercooler in the stock location if you don't mind doing a...

Re: A555 transmission bearing number list

    Nicely done Warren!
If I'm reading the BCA catalog right, the SL bearing should have a metal shield on the snap ring side right? I'll have to check and see if one of the local stores stock that bad...
  19. Re: Heater core change - Spirit R/T - How Hard?

    Alumaseal!

Seriously, my Caddy is finishing it's second winter since "fixing" a leaking heater core with alumaseal. Hasn't leaked a drop since. It wasn't at the leaking in the floor stage yet, but...

Re: Spirit R/T as a Daily Driver?

I agree with the above about the timing belt being replaced and properly tensioned at the correct intervals. In addition to that, I'd suggest an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and a big bright low...

Re: A555 transmission bearing number list

    Well crap!
As far as I can tell, the only difference between the 207LO and the 207L is that the 207L includes a snap ring and the LO doesn't (but has the groove). Unfortunately, neither of the two...

Re: A555 transmission bearing number list

    John,

You're talking about the sealed bearing right?
If so, I've got the one out of a 555 sitting right here. It's a Koyo bearing and has 83A5958 on the seal and 6207n on the outer race.

    HTH,...

Re: A555 transmission bearing number list

I (very) briefly entertained the idea of 3 or 4 small tack welds around the outer race.:D:eek: No need for drastic measures like that as long as the correct bearing remains available from the dealer...

It's missing the groove for the snap ring that the original bearing has.

    Re: Clutch pack clearances?

Yeah. I'm running a regular snap ring instead of the wave ring. With it together with all 404 steels, 5 clutches, and the solid snap ring, I've got about .049". Now if I could just figure out why...
