If I had access to a mill, I would make one like Warren has. It's the best way to go for our heads IMO.

Good Writeup. I hate doing valve stem seals, especially in car with a two piece intake manifold.
I love easy fixes. Glad you've got it going again.
Here is the best I'll have. For some reason, the a body cars aren't included in my manual with the rest of the cars.66626
I think I have that manual. What, specifically are you looking for? I can take some decent screens hots and post them up.
That sounds great. Not too loud either judging by the video. Should be great to cruise around in.
Glad it's helping people still. You can definitely get to the connector if you let the column drop down.
It looks like the power comes through the fusible links and then through the ignition switch to the bus on the fuse block. I would check the fusible links first, then suck it up and drop down the...
I would check the fusible links. I'll see if I can find the diagram in my manuals today and post back up.
It always feels great when they're running that well, especially after being left dormant for a while.
Looking good. I hope to see it out at SDAC again this year.
Where are you guys purchasing your 304 SS pieces to do exhaust work these days? I want to finally get an exhaust under CSX497, and I should probably do some work on other cars this summer too. Since...
Very happy to hear that the problem ended up requiring a simple fix.

I've only bought one replacement, and it was a middle of the road price on Rockauto. It seems to be holding up well in the minivan. I'm thinking about rebuilding a couple of them which I have on hand.
I would make sure the linkage is in good shape, and properly adjusted. If it goes into 2 and 4, but not the others, I think it almost has to be the adjustment. 2 and 4 are on different synchros.
My compressors generally go bad before anything else.
Yes. I put that oil in the trans.
I've gone to the O'Reily conventional that they still have. I really wish there was something designed specifically to work with the later 1/2 synchro AND the 3/4 and 5 synchros.
Congrats, JT. that's awesome.
Looks good, JT. Thanks for the update.
I didn't CC the chambers, though I know I should have. I cut it back .250" on the first one, then made a template, and tried to match them. It passes fairly well by eye and feel in real life.

Thanks. I really wanted to make everything "perfect" as far as smoothing it out and ensuring that everything was as close to the same as possible, but I thought I had better quit while I'm ahead.

OK, here are the results. I know there is definitely room for improvement, but I'm satisfied enough with my first attempt at porting a head. Thanks to all who contributed to the thread. I know that I...
