Re: Some interesting axle strength calculations

But what if the bearing AREN'T worn and you are using them to keep the axle centered better. Those little bushings don't do a great job.

    Re: G body seat latches

Only thing I can say is I've been in 3 rear enders with G-bodies, 1 was an '84 (I was probably 8 or so), 2 others were in a 90 and the 90 got punted pretty hard by an Omni without me in it...

    Re: G body seat latches

The grease is probably all sticky causing the pawl to not engage. Try spraying a little WD40 on the mechanism.

    Re: Boost drifting downward

Yes, exhaust backpressure is most likely going to be a major contributor given what we know.

    Re: Boost drifting downward

What is the setup of the car? There's a lot of things that can cause a dropping boost curve.

Re: 46RE build with 48RE guts

OK, update time! I FINALLY have the correct parts to put the geartrain together. What it took was a machined 48RE sunshell used with the 46RE sun gear (I got a new one). NOW it stacks up nicely and...

Was it JUST the axle or were they going to make the CV's with the cups and all, too? What materials and processes? What kind of warranty? I mean yeah, that is a LOT of money for axles that only a...

Re: 46RE build with 48RE guts

Yeah, I know I built a brick sh*thouse when a wooden one would have done. Yes, I have the valve body kit and the OD shim kit. I am not even going to run the factory cooler, I have a completely...

Re: 46RE build with 48RE guts

Well, I couldn't really find an EXACT answer, but here's what I found: in order to use the 48RE geartrain, you have to either use all of it, leave out the sun shell and stick with the original...

    46RE build with 48RE guts

OK, I am in need of some help. I've tried finding specifics on this and there's very little "hard" evidence. I guess transmission shops like to keep this stuff to themselves?

    Anyway, the trans in...

Re: TCE Performance big brake kit

I have a full set of Viper calipers sitting in a box downstairs. If you want measurements or anything, LMK. I am VERY interested in adapter brackets for them. If you don't do it, I will...eventually.
  15. Re: whats known about overseas tdi (crd) voyagers

I am also interested in this. I tried to do some looking a few years ago, but not much luck. I think later ones use a similar bearing setup as the SRT-4 transmission on the input shaft, but in a A568...

  17. Re: Larger bore bolt in master cylinder for Spirit R/T?

No, sorry. I ended up using old factory ones. Not exactly "best practice", but it worked!
  18. Re: Larger bore bolt in master cylinder for Spirit R/T?

Cordes knows me all too well! LOL

So, he is right on all counts.

I have not done the math, personally, but I can relay what I was told by Mike Stimac. He was running Viper 4-pot calipers up...

Re: CSR Electric Water Pump Installation

I know people seem to thing the impeller is "backwards", but I am wondering if the blades are designed that way to reduce tip cavitation? I haven't looked at it in a long time, but just a thought.

Anymore, if you don't have the CSR, I'd shy away from it and go with a Davies Craig unit. Those a very proven in endurance and street cars.

    Re: Harmonic Balancers?

I think custom cranks are going for about $3500 nowadays.

    Billet caps exist.

Personally, I think deck sealing is more important. Nobody really breaks bottom ends from too much power. There's...

I have an offset ground crank I had done back around 2001 with a 3.75" stroke. It was supposed to be used with 6" rods and custom pistons. I have the whole set-up, but never put it together. :(
