  1. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

Saturday was what I would call successful in a one handed way.

I got the flex hoses attached to the main steel line and clipped to their brackets.

From there I formed the steel lines from the...

    Re: Stamped letters on rails

Naturally the pistons are also stamped to allow select fitting of pistons/bores.

    Thanks

  3. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

Appreciate the kind words Johnny but I'm not the reporting type.

The mechanic is a long time acquaintance who misjudged things.

Once the car is back on the road I'm going to have coffee with...
  4. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

    Up date!!

My local reliable parts guy searched for hoses but came up empty.

I checked a couple of online sources and all said no stock available.

I got my guy to order the cylinders anyway...
  5. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

I appreciate the thought and its a good method.

The line at the cyl was very crusty but the line into the flex hose came out.

Parts are cheap so I decided to replace the flexhose, steel line...

    Thanks Miles!!!

  7. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

I spent the afternoon and evening under the LeBaron and am exhausted.

Dirty and grimy but very happy, I got the wheel cyls, lines and flexhoses out.

Wheel cyls looked pretty good but I decided...
  8. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

    Appreciate your kind words Todd!!

I'm really just preparing for this afternoons LeBaron brake attack.

I have a 1986 Chevy propane van with no adjuster holes and it got me thinking.

    I have a...
  9. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

    Another question:

Are there any rear drum brake adjustment knockouts on these cars??

    Thanks

Do the Masi cranks have a rolled radius like the regular Chrysler cranks??

    Thanks

  11. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

    Agreed!!!!

There are more dud shops/mechanics than there are dud cars.

No disrespect to the good mechanics out there.

I just got an expensive dud!

    Thanks
    Randy
  12. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

And this is the major piss off Johnny!!

It's very hard around here to get someone to look at /work on drum brakes.

The pedal was soft so I took it to a skilled mechanic I know an hour away.

  13. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

Time is on my side Miles and its been soaking a few days.

Probably going to check the wheel cyls and try disassembling tomorrow.

    Thanks

    Turbos/Intercoolers Re: Garrett Turbine shaft.

    Wow Todd, excellent!!!

That's the info I need right there.

I'm guessing the original ring wears some increasing the clearance some??

    Or not.

    Thanks
    Randy
  15. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

Hi Todd, agreed, but like the criminal said to Clint Eastwood, "I just have to know"..

I remember some that wouldn't allow the pistons to fall out.

    Thanks
    Randy
  16. Re: 1988 K-car style LeBaron sedan rear wheel cylinder questions.

I agree but am trying to find out if the pistons remove with the wheel cyls in place.

    Thanks

    Turbos/Intercoolers Re: Garrett Turbine shaft.

Todd, I should have asked you first!!

Whats the side clearance of the ring to turbine shaft groove?

I asked on another forum and a guy answered about .0015"

He said he used to work in a...

    Re: 88/89 SMEC interchangability.

I've swapped them many times with no issues.

    Even a 1988 2.2 T-I SMEC runs a 1989 2.5 T-I Engine fine for me.

    I use +20 injectors with a T-II SMEC on a 2.5 T-I Engine

    I always run manual...

It's not recommended to use a gasket on the int shaft seal retainer.

    Anaerobic sealer. Mopar prefered.
