    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

What were his heads running? Are they the 3.3L Beehive springs with LS1 Locks / Retainers? I see BM is gone, so I can't refer to the head thread that you guys had running on there. I'm also curious...

Brent, it sounds like you should be investing in a pair of these http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/254070/images/mechanix-gloves.jpg instead of all those different tools :P

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

Thing to do for Holsets is to go scrap yard hunting. Most people replace them with different brands, and the import guys jump on cheap Holsets quickly. But the lackluster information kicking around...

That sucks to see, but at least Holsets are relatively cheap to find on ebay, etc.

Just a note - MS wiring specs call for a 2amp fuse for MS +12 power.

Agreed with Vigo. Too many times, while rewiring my brakes lights in the my Shadow, as well in the car stereo world I've seen people just pull a chassis bolts and put a ring terminal under it and...

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

If you're running MS, why piggy back a new relay for the FP off the factory relay? Why not just run a completely new feed from the battery to a new relay and have MS trigger that instead? At least...

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

Stainless lines aren't overly expensive. Not sure what the factory size is, but a 25' roll of like -6AN would do both your send and return line and Summit sells them for around $95.

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

That price seems a little close to a prebuilt MS2 unit... DIY lists their MS2 prebuilts for $420, and from the sounds of things the MS offers that much more control to justify an extra $50. Or if you...

I'm assuming he's just talking about this oil return line for his turbo. Welding an entire pan _may_ be a bit overkill in that case.

I would think you'd be pulling Vac. 35mph in fifth - you should barely be touching your gas. My DD at ~55 km/h in 5th is only like 1200 rpm, and the throttle is just barely open.

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

LOL. I wouldn't suggest beer cans for the final product, but for templating they would be perfect. Hell, you could cut a section of old body panel to do it if you needed.

    Just wear gloves if that...

    Re: The Holset he341 3.0L

Could always use like 16AWG sheet metal, or some aluminum sheeting and make a heat shield that goes around your down pipe. Make a few like 1 inch standoffs that go around the downpipe in increments...

Many OEMs package in plain white boxes.. no need for custom boxes, helps recycling and production costs, and then companies can sometimes relabel the box to sell as their own (re branding).

Thanks for the insight. I'm building tube headers for my 3.0L, and was thinking of not running any flex joints - just the front header straight to the turbo flange, and the rear header bolts to a...

Do you run a flex joint for the crossover pipe? Not sure how your turbo is ran in this, is it crossover mounted or is it rear mounted?

Edit: I looked through the pics again and noticed its...
