SBEC Electronic schematic/flowchart/logic diagrams
Greetings,
Where would the conversation for component level repair of an SBEC start?
All the CLR I do at work I have prints to work off of and it hasn't been until recent that I've run into bad computers. I now have 2 SBEC's with 2 separate faults that I feel are very repairable.
1 SBEC isn't latching the ASD relay signal (output) and second is a voltage regulator and another weird code.
I've heard a lot of conversations have moved on to facebook so I'll try there as well once I get an account going.
I'll just do it the hard reverse hackerway and report my findings if those documents haven't leaked out from the factory.

I have pseudo schematics for the 87 LM which will give you an idea of what goes on in the SBEC.

I have Reversed Engineered the functionality of the main functions of the SBEC2 but I have not fully documented this. I hope to document this in the fall.
The alternator control driver is on the right side of the driver bank and the one towards the 60 way. It will be a challenge to change as it is on the inside of the banks. The part is usually labelled with a special Cryco part number so it is difficult to determine exactly what the component is. I assume some sort of MOSFET as the pins are labelled GDS. I plan to desolder one and test out of circuit but that will be a winter project. I am working on getting copies of the schematics but the person is having difficulty finding them at the moment.
For SBEC2 the ALT driver is Q071.

I've also got a computer code and an inop ASD signal. 2 different SBECs. I'll start a thread eventually.
Figured the voltage regulator would be the easiest path to the guys who are doing component level repair.
Hopefully I'M retreading ground someone else has done (and I find it) because I suck at reverse engineering.

reverse engineering is difficult and slow for everybody. When you find info please share.
