the turbo on the car? idk why you would want it. its a stock T2 exhaust side with a early turbo buick compressor. its a home made "super 60" with the correct housing. its REALLY nothing special. I think a .63 housing would do WONDERs for the car. if not a hair larger than .63. but i cant complain, the car is AMAZING on the street. almost instant spool, never stops pulling, and it gets great mpgs still. id recommend this comby to anyone with a 2.5 street car.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
What is the best vac you can pull at idle with the F4 cam in there?

The 2.5 in the Lebaron I bought from Bozo runs 20" w/ an F3 cam. FWIW :D
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
my car pulls 18" at idle with 12* timing.

Wow, that's great. This is something I'll look into down the road.

That's what my 2.2 pulls with a FM 475 cam.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
i went to the track last weekend. ran a PILE of 12.0xs at 22psi. I must have a boost leak of wg problem cause i couldnt turn the boost up nomatter what i did. SO, it is extremely consistant with 22 psi. and 1.7xx 60' everytime. After about 6 hot laps i popped a frost plug out and poured coolant in the burnout box. i think i just installed them incorrectly because i just put new brass plugs in about 2k miles ago. oh well. ill figure out the boost leak and pop a new plug in and be back in business.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
so what turbo would i need to get the car down to 11.5? I think it may be possible on more boost but not efficiently. So, i need suggestion on how to make the car faster without loosing weight. part of my bragging right is that the car is FULL interior. already dont have rear bumper. battery is still up front. i cut consistant 1.7xx 60s but just dont finish it off. im only trapping 113mph on average. i need more power me thinks.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
To4e 46 trim (Big housing) .63 A/R stock turbine wheel. Amazing spool characteristics and 125+MPH capable in a full bodied S/C.
Wanna go bigger? 50 trim To4e (big housing) .63 A/R stage 2 turbine wheel.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
i have a holset he341 sitting on the shelf. that would be close to the 50 tim wouldnt it?
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
Correct, like a 50 trim To4e, but Better! Higher PR + slightly larger more efficient turbine wheel than a stage 3 .63 A/R.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
Well sounds like i will be putting the holset on the omni this winter. I will likely build a 1.5in shorty tube header for it when i do. I just noticed i never updated the thread after drag week. so...
After putting the 44/37, ported head with F4 cam i did Hot Rod Drag Week 2011. I drove 1400 miles made 20 passes at 4 differnt tracks and averaged a time of 12.17 at 113. My fastest pass was in Tulsa OK with a 11.97 at 113.

After drag week i went back to topeak, ks with some friends and ran a pile of 12.0x's.
Then my home track opened back up after being underwater all season. I got my best 1/8th mile times todate there. 7.53 at 93mph. Which is better than my 7.67 i ran on my 11 sec pass in tulsa. So ive taken .14 off my 1/8th mile times with more seat time. Im thinking theres more in the car as it is.
Plans for the winter include Roll cage, holset, header, and probably a larger exhaust. (4in)
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
Nice! I think you've taken a really smart path to your goals with this build. This has to be one of the fastest "small turbo" cars out there! Too many go too big right out of the box and never give themselves a chance to learn what really works along the way.
I think you've put together a real solid base for the Holset upgrade. Looking at the times your running + your build, it's easy to see that your biggest restriction is the turbo.
Looking forward to seeing how the car responds to Header/ Turbo/ Exhaust upgrade. :thumb:

Wonder what you gained with the mods because at first, you were pretty well running the same times as before the head and cam?
What boost after and did you find the boost leak or is 22 psi all you can get?
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
i picked up half a second with the head and cam swap? id say thats a pretty large gain? going from a 12.4 to an 11.9 is a good gain in my books. and im only running 22psi. and since then ive picked up almost .15 in the 1/8th mile. which would put me close to the 11.5-11.6 area. Thats almost a full second with the head cam swap.
I did figure out my boost issue last weekend. My Talon BOV was leaking. I switched to a modded one and now i have as much boost as i want.
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
Well, i went to the dyno again. The head, and cam worked great! MY peak torque was lower by about 40ftlbs and my peak hp was only 6-8 hp more. BUT....i gained over 60hp at 5K rpm and hold that number til red line. The engine doesnt fall on its face anymore. I dont have a picture or the chart right now, but i will try to get it when i have a chance. heres videos til then

Its clear as day that the .48 housing is holding my numbers down. So......

I have a holset He341 thats going on along with a home made header. I have everything to get started so i will update when that happens!
Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T
Not bad, can't wait to see the numbers. What boost were you running?
